This celebrity dad is getting candid about a transition that his entire family is going through. While appearing on The Breakfast Club, Marlon Wayans revealed that his oldest child is transgender, and as he's processing this new development, he feels like he's going through a period of transformation himself. Marlon definitely isn't the only celebrity who has spoken out about a trans child, but he is the latest to candidly share what this means for his family.

Marlon shared that he has a 'daughter that transitioned into a son.'
"My daughter Amai is now Kai," he said on the radio show.
Marlon is a father of two sons he shares with ex-girlfriend Angela Zackary: 23-year-old Kai and 21-year-old Shawn. And now, it sounds like Kai's transition has caused Marlon to rethink a lot of things in his own life.
Marlon said he's going through a 'transition' of his own.
"My transition as a parent, going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance," he said. "I think there’s a lot of parents out there who need to have that message, and I know I’m dealing with it. It was a very painful situation for me, but, man, it’s one of the best hours I could ever imagine."
He admitted that he still has trouble using the right pronouns.
"They know I love them. They see me trying, and I’m happy, but I have to respect their wishes," Marlon said.
As Page Six pointed out, he went on to share that he will address the topic on his next comedy special, Skittles (also called Rainbow Child), hoping to help families who have had similar experiences as their children transition.

Marlon didn't hold back how proud he is of his children.
He said his goal for his children is for them to feel "free to be themselves."
"The more you know yourself, the more you can govern yourself, the more you live your truth, the happier your existence. So, if they can’t get that in the household with their father and their mother, how the f— do I send them out into the world with that kind of confidence? And I'm just so proud of them for being them," he said.
Good for Marlon for being so open about his experience.
There's no doubt that plenty of other parents can relate to what Marlon is talking about as they seek to support their children in an experience that may be completely unfamiliar for them. It sounds like it's been a big adjustment for Marlon as a parent, but it also sounds like Kai has a dad ready to back them up every step of the way.
