Meghan Markle Reportedly Uses ‘Fear’ To Keep Her Staff Members in Line

After the palace investigation into claims made about the way Meghan Markle (and even Prince Harry) treated her employees seemingly went nowhere, one royal expert is giving us new insight about what might have really been going on behind the scenes. Apparently, Meghan was totally against the idea that she should "coddle" the people who worked for her — and if this intel is true, it sounds like it was truly a nightmare experience for those who were on staff.

According to what royal expert and author Robert Lacey wrote in his book about Harry and William's feud, Battle of Brothers, when confronted about the way she treated her staff members, Meghan would reportedly reply, "It's not my job to coddle people."

Working for Meghan and Harry was said to be 'toxic.'

Though Harry wrote about his brother's temper in his memoir, Spare, a royal insider told Lacey that he has a temper of his own.

"I overheard a conversation between Harry and one of his top aides," a courtier said. "Harry was screaming down the phone. Team Sussex was a really toxic environment."

Now, though, it sounds like Harry is having regrets.

The damage may be done at this point, but Lacey writes in his book that Harry wishes things were different.

"All he does is spend time looking back. If only he could wrench his neck around and look forwards," the courtier added.

Speaking to The Times, one of Harry's friends from back home in the UK recently said that "things haven't turned out" the way Harry planned when he originally walked away from royal life.

"I think he misses being over here desperately and wants to be admired more," the friend said. "Anyone who knows him feels he’d rather be top of the pops here with everyone loving him, as they do with William and Kate."

Harry may be fighting an uphill battle when it comes to reconciling with his family.

"How do you regain the trust? I don’t think Harry ever can. But from the conversations I’ve had with the King, I would never say their relationship is irreparable," a friend of King Charles' told The Times. "The King’s capacity to forgive his son is undimmed. There are other members of the royal family who are much more weighted against Harry, that’s the problem."
