After pop star Meghan Trainor shared new updates on her life with fans on social media, people have been talking – and not necessarily in a good way. The comments of her recent Instagram posts are filled with her followers’ opinions on her new look after she’s made what seems to be a pretty big weight loss transformation, including questions about whether she’s using weight loss medications to achieve her new body. But now, Meghan is setting the record straight.
One of Meghan’s recent posts sparked the conversation.
Recently, a photo carousel that Meghan shared on Instagram showed her looking a bit different than she once did, and the change wasn’t lost on her followers.
“I see you drank the Ozempic Kool Aid as well,” one commenter wrote. “You used to stand out, now you blend in with all of the plastic Barbie Dolls on the shelf.”
Some even used her own lyrics to her first hit song, “All About That Bass,” against her, with one person commenting, “oh so we’re not all about that bass no more?”
The comments only ramped up when she was honored by Billboard over the weekend.
And this time, it wasn’t just in the comments on Instagram: They creeped up on her during red carpet interviews when she arrived at Billboard’s Women in Music event. While talking to Entertainment Tonight, Meghan was asked about her “health journey.”
“I learned a lot of tricks that I had no idea [about],” she replied. “I was working out so incorrectly for so long. I was running and doing cardio and my body was inflamed, always.”
Now, Meghan is speaking out.
Sharing a photo from the event, Meghan admitted that she was “disheartened” by how many questions and comments have been focused on her body “instead of my music, my passion, or the decade of hard work that got me here.”
“This is what it’s like to be a woman in the music industry,” she wrote.
Her body has been through a lot of changes in recent years.
After having two children, of course, her body has undergone some changes, and now, Meghan’s putting it all out on the table.
“No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago. I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me,” she continued in her Instagram caption. “I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.”
She added, “Here’s to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first. Let’s keep shifting the convo to what REALLY matters.”
