Meri Brown Suggests Kody’s Obsession With His ‘New Shiny Toy,’ Robyn, Created ‘Divide’ Among Sister Wives

Meri Brown and Robyn Brown used to be good friends, but over time, their relationship became more strained. In a teaser for the April 20 episode of Sister Wives, Meri spoke about what went wrong — and seemed to suggest that Kody Brown was at least partially to blame.

Meri pointed out that some people might perceive Robyn as manipulative.

In a teaser clip shared by People, Meri spoke to her friend Jenn Sullivan about how people might perceive Robyn. “There’s so many people that are like she was a fraud, she was a liar, she was manipulating,” Meri said in the clip.

However, mid-sentence, Meri noticed “the look” that Jenn was giving her and started laughing. Jenn told Meri that she’s “cautious” in how she talks about Robyn because she doesn’t think Robyn was trying to be manipulative.

“I don’t think it was like intentional manipulation,” Jenn told Meri.

‘I don’t either,’ Meri agreed.

Meri and Jenn then seemed to suggest that the way Kody acted led to the strained relationship between Robyn and Meri. “I do think that Kody decided that he had this new person that was this new insider with him,” Jenn said.

Meri added that to Kody, Robyn was “the new shiny toy.” Jenn agreed, saying that “it just became them against everybody else.”

Jenn said Robyn continued to act like Meri’s friend — but then didn’t treat her like it.

While Robyn might not have manipulated people on purpose, Jenn admitted that some of her behavior was problematic. She pointed to the way Robyn would act like Meri was her “best friend,” but then would go on to “completely ignore” her. “That’s really f—ed up,” Jenn added.

Meri said she and Robyn used to be ‘very close.’

Over time, though, Meri noticed something change — “there was a divide,” she said. These tensions became even more obvious amid the Sister Wives stars’ Coyote Pass drama. Meri previously explained how Robyn and Kody would not communicate about what to do with the property, even though they likely had a plan in mind.

“I feel like Kody and Robyn probably have some plan of what they want to do, and how they want to handle it,” she said. “I think that Janelle has some sort of plan, and I know that I do as well. None of us are talking to each other because none of us trust each other.”

They recently settled the Coyote Pass dispute.

The Sister Wives stars recently sold the property for $1.5 million. In March, it was reported that they divvied up the land so that 50% of it belonged to Kody and Robyn. Meanwhile, Meri and Janelle each owned 25% of the property.
