Netflix has responded to a claim that it sent a warning to a chef who criticized Meghan Markle. Previously, celebrity chef Jameson Stocks called Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, “painful to watch.” After he critiqued Meghan’s show and suggested that she should switch careers, he claimed that Netflix reached out to him.
The chef claimed that he was asked to appear on Meghan’s Netflix show.
Jameson previously claimed that he turned down an opportunity to appear on With Love, Meghan. He told the Daily Mail that he was worried about how agreeing to be on the show might affect his reputation. Additionally, he assumed that it would feel “forced and fake,” and accused Netflix of “trying to chase the money.” However, Us Weekly later reported that Jameson was not asked to be on Meghan’s show.
After the show came out, Jameson called it ‘terrible.’
The celebrity chef didn’t seem to like anything about Meghan’s show. “I honestly thought it was terrible,” Jameson said. “Everything — the music is quite slow, it’s quite lethargic, it’s quite painful to watch.” He’s not the only person who has been critical of Meghan’s show. Many viewers have slammed With Love, Meghan, calling it “inauthentic” and “out of touch.”
Though Jameson wasn’t a fan of the show, his comments about Meghan weren’t entirely critical. He actually praised Meghan’s acting skills. “She’s quite a good actress,” he said, adding, “people should stick to what they do best.”
He claimed that Netflix was not happy about his comments.
According to the chef, Netflix “came after” him because of what he said about Meghan’s show. “I got a lawyer’s letter from Netflix after I spoke out against her, warning me,” he recently told the Daily Mail. “I proper p—– them off. Netflix did not like it and came after me.”
The alleged warning didn’t stop him from criticizing Meghan though. Even during the recent interview, he said, “I don’t think she can cook and I don’t think she should be teaching people to cook either.”
Netflix denied these claims.
On Sunday, May 4, Netflix responded to the chef’s allegations. In a statement shared with The Independent, a spokesperson for the streaming service said, “No legal letter was sent to Jameson Stocks from Netflix.”
