What to Know
As King Charles prepares for his upcoming state visit to the United States, his estranged son, Prince Harry, and President Donald Trump are once again engaged in some drama. It started on April 23, when Prince Harry spoke at the Kyiv Security Forum in Ukraine. Although he didn’t mention Trump directly during his speech, he did make a comment about “American leadership,” and we all know who is currently in power…
Trump has responded to Harry’s comments and acted totally unbothered, but we’ll see if any angry Truth Social rants come later.
Harry spoke about the role the U.S. has played in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Of course, not everything Harry said was about the U.S. specifically. “No nation benefits from the continued loss of life we are witnessing,” he said, per RadarOnline. “There is still a moment, now, to stop this war. To prevent further suffering for Ukrainians and Russians alike, and to choose a different course.”
And then came the comments that seemed to be directed at Trump. “The United States has a singular role in this story,” Harry said. “Not only because of its power, but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected.”
He continued, “This is a moment for American leadership. A moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations, not out of charity, but out of its own enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”
Harry is obviously no longer a working royal, nor is he a politician. He told people that he was not speaking as a politician, but as “a soldier who understands service” and “a humanitarian.”
Trump reacted to these comments.
And his response suggests that he doesn’t really care what Prince Harry has to say about the war. Reporters in the Oval Office asked Trump to respond to what Harry had to say and to weigh in on whether it was “appropriate” for Harry to make those comments about the war ahead of his father’s state visit.
Trump initially responded to the question by asking about Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. “Prince Harry?” Trump questioned. “How’s he doing? How’s his wife? Please give her my regards, OK?”
He then went on to claim that he actually represents the United Kingdom more than Harry does. “I know one thing,” he said. “Prince Harry is not speaking for the U.K. That’s for sure. I think I’m speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice very much. Great advice.”
Clearly, Trump has an … interesting way of speaking about Prince Harry.

In the past, when questioned about whether he would consider deporting Prince Harry, Trump said that he wouldn’t—but only because he pities him. “I don’t want to do that,” Trump said previously. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
While it’s unclear how King Charles feels about his estranged son’s comments ahead of his state visit, previous reports have suggested that Charles wishes Harry would be a bit quieter about his beliefs. Earlier this year, an insider told commentator Rob Shuter that Charles feels “deeply uncomfortable” when Harry comments on Trump. “Charles understands the emotion, but he’s horrified by the timing,” the source claimed at the time.
