Prince Harry Makes a Short but ‘Awkward’ Appearance at King Charles’ Coronation

Saturday was a massive day for the United Kingdom and the royal family. King Charles III was officially crowned as the new king, alongside Queen Camilla, who was also crowned in the traditional ceremony.

The king's oldest son, Prince William, and William's oldest, Prince George, had a role in the historical event as their family, friends, allies, and the world watched.

But the king's second son, Prince Harry, was nearly invisible.

In the months leading up to the coronation, there was a lot of chatter on whether Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, would attend the events.

At first, it appeared they weren't even invited. Still, after a few weeks, it was confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had received an invitation but hadn't RSVP'd right away.

And when they did send in the RSVP, it was confirmed that only Harry would be attending, leaving his wife and their two young children at home.

There is a lot of tension between Prince Harry and his family.

Anyone who follows the royal family news even loosely likely knows that Harry has been nearly estranged from the family.

When he and Meghan announced they would be stepping back from royal duties and moving to the United States, that was just the beginning of the drama.

The last time Harry was seen publicly with his family was during Queen Elizabeth's funeral.

Harry and Meghan attended the funeral services for the late Queen in September 2022. Some moments felt tense and awkward, a vibe in the air many could feel from the photos of the brothers together.

So much has come out since then, including a few tell-all interviews, a Netflix documentary, and a best-selling autobiography where Harry called out several family members.

And, to no surprise, it was awkward when Harry was in the same room as his family members again.

The Duke of Sussex entered Westminster Abbey in London on May 6 before the ceremony. He walked down the aisle with his cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice plus their husbands. Many on social media, however, say his walk-in was awkward.

"I can't imagine how awkward it must be for Prince Harry to be at his father's Coronation. He's got to be the most disliked person there by the Brits," one person tweeted.

"Say what you will—I like Prince Harry and applaud him for coming with a great attitude despite how awkward it must be!" another person tweeted. "He is a people's prince, living his mother's legacy with grace!"

“Prince Harry looks awkward in the #Coronation of his dad,” someone else wrote.

Some people also believe that Harry threw a side-eye at Prince William during the ceremony.

Unlike at the funeral for the late queen, Harry wasn't seated in the second row behind William, Kate, and their kids.

Instead, Harry sat in the third row between Princess Alexandra and Princess Eugenie's husband, Jack Brooksbank.

Some people also say they saw him making "awkward" faces during some parts of the ceremony, with people assuming his "side-eye" was directed at William.

It's believed he didn't spend any time with his dad or brother while he was in the UK. Harry left almost as swiftly as he arrived. Reports indicate he left immediately after the ceremony, heading to the airport to fly home.
