What to Know
Prince William and Kate Middleton ended the year by moving their family into Forest Lodge, what is said to be their new forever home. The royal residence has a whopping eight bedrooms, and this couple is going to need the space if recent reports are to be believed.
Apparently, Will and Kate have some truly unusual sleeping arrangements in more ways than one, and if this intel is true, it may not help them out much when it comes to getting rid of these pesky divorce rumors that have been plaguing them over the last few weeks.
When the couple stays at Kensington Palace, they sleep in an unconventional place.
According to a report from The Mirror, Will and Kate’s bedroom in Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace is on the ground floor, which is unusual considering that royals typically sleep in upstairs bedrooms. Not these two, though — at least, not when they’re in London.
Other than the bedroom situation, their apartment isn’t actually like an apartment at all. It’s four stories tall and has 20 rooms, including a gym, and nine staff quarters for any live-in employees.
Sources have claimed that Will and Kate haven’t shared a bedroom in years.
As multiple outlets including Hello! magazine have reported in the past, many royal couples have chosen to sleep in separate bedrooms, Will and Kate included. Though they have never officially confirmed that’s the case, they wouldn’t be the first to do so; Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip reportedly slept in totally different rooms, while King Charles and Queen Camilla supposedly each have their own bedroom, plus one extra that they share when the mood strikes.
Hmm…
This doesn’t mirror what William has said about their sleeping arrangements at all.
During a 2024 visit to Duchy College Stoke Climsland, William revealed that he shares a bed with Kate and their family’s black cocker spaniel, Orla.
“[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate,” Louise Harland, a woman who met Will at the event, told Hello!. “[He was] absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he’s never met one of those breeds — he’s a Cockerjack — so he’s a little bit of a unique combination.”
Knowing how much Will and Kate love their dogs, this certainly sounds plausible. But if they each have a room of their own, does that mean that Orla takes turns sleeping with each of them?
