Princess Anne Fills in for King Charles’ Royal Duties After He Was Diagnosed With Cancer

Now that the news of King Charles' cancer diagnosis is out, the rest of the royal family is rallying around him. Not only are they offering him moral support at this time, but they're also picking up the slack when it comes to the royal duties he won't be able to fulfill while he's in treatment. And on Tuesday, that meant that Princess Anne filled in for Charles at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle.

As People reported, Anne was the one handing out the honors at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday — a duty that originally belonged to Charles. Anne was always supposed to step in this time around, though; before the cancer diagnosis, Charles was already expected to be out of commission as he recovered from the procedure he recently had to treat his enlarged prostate.

Her work didn't stop there.

Following the ceremony, the Princess Royal visited a community center in Nottinghamshire to learn about a new project the center was promoting to help improve mental health.

It's often been said that Anne is one of the hardest-working royals, and that doesn't seem to have changed!

Charles relocated to Sandringham on Tuesday.

That same day, Charles was spotted for the first time since his cancer diagnosis was made public. He and Queen Camilla were seen leaving their London home, Clarence House, for Buckingham Palace, where a helicopter was waiting to take them to their country home of Sandringham in Norfolk.

He also reportedly met with Prince Harry on Tuesday.

Shortly after the world found out about Charles' cancer, Prince Harry left the US to be in the UK with his family. According to The Sun, it was a very brief trip — 24 hours later, he was already spotted at the airport, heading back home to wife Meghan Markle and their two children.

Charles will likely lay low for a while.

For now, the palace has said that Charles is postponing any "public-facing duties" on his schedule while still working on other tasks such as state business as he begins treatment.

This must be such a scary time for Charles and the other royals, but it sounds like his family is willing to step up when he needs them.
