Family estrangement is never easy to process, and for Rob Schneider, he's hoping that his daughter, Elle King, can one day forgive him for the ways he failed her as a father. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, the 60-year-old filmmaker addressed his strained relationship with the 35-year-old "Ex's and Oh's" singer, who recently described her childhood as "toxic" on the latest episode of Bunnie XO's podcast, Dumb Blonde.

Elle talked about her relationship with her father.
During the podcast segment, Elle revealed that she goes four to five years without talking to her dad and that he once called her demanding that she not talk about him in the media. She also said that her dad sent her to fat camp as a child and that things were "very toxic" with him. "I do not agree with what he says," she explained about a lot of his beliefs. "I don't want to be associated with him … he's just not nice."
Rob took time to address his daughter's comments.
Speaking to Tucker Carlson, the actor started by saying, "It's fun being a parent, isn't it?" As he continued, he appeared to use his words to try to patch things up with his child. "I just want to tell my daughter, Elle, I love you and I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed. Clearly I wasn’t. I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you completely and I love you entirely."

He says he just wants her to be happy.
"I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky," he added, referring to Elle's son who was born in 2021. "I wish you the best. I feel terrible. I just want you to know I don't take anything you say personally."
Tucker asked if it was hard for Rob to not fire back at his daughter, to which he replied, "I love her. All I want for her is to be happy and to heal from this."
Fans responded to Elle's comments.
Fans were taken by surprise in regards to Elle's truth about her childhood. "Wow I love her dad shocked to hear they have this kind of relationship," one person commented.
"So is this before or after an interview I just watched where she said that Rob is very proud of her and loves her music," another person questioned, to which Bunnie replied, "You’ll never understand a toxic relationship w a parent unless you have one. One min you love them next you’re fighting because it’s so fragile."
Other people didn't agree with Rob's approach to responding to his daughter.
For some people, Rob using the Tucker Carlson Network to respond to his daughter was the wrong move.
"Not sure going on Tucker Carlson is the best avenue to reach his estranged daughter ♀️ ," one person shared.
"He’s literally asking for forgiveness through a news outlet," another person commented. "If that isn’t trying to save his reputation idk what is."
