Simone Biles' birth mother is hoping for her daughter's forgiveness. Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, 52-year-old Shanon Biles opened up about the drug addiction that led her to giving up her children and shared how she holds onto hope that Simone will one day reach out to her for a chance to reconnect and allow her to explain what took place in the past. "It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I wasn't able to care for them," she said. "I was still using and [my father] didn't want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn't right."

She hopes to make amends.
Speaking with the news outlet, Shanon said she one days hopes to make amends with both Simone and her younger sister Adria. Both girls spent time in and out of foster care and then were later adopted by Shanon's father, Ronald, and his wife, Nellie.
"I would just ask her to forgive me," she said, adding that she doesn't want to be judged for her past. "I'm waiting for the opportunity but I'm waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let's sit down. I just have to be patient."
Shanon is a recovering addict.
A drug addiction overtook Shanon's life when her children were young, forcing her father to step in. Her two eldest children, Tevin and Ashley, were taken in by Ronald's sister. Today, Shanon has made a major improvement, but it comes with hard work.
"I am a recovering addict and will always be an addict. But there's a way [to recovery]. You have to learn to stay away from people, places and things," she said. "Change your routine and live your life. Live your best life."

She goes through her dad for updates on Simone.
Despite her efforts at recovery, Shanon and Simone's relationship still remains largely estranged. "What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad. I speak to my dad all the time. We're good now," she explained. "If I need to know anything I call my dad. I ask him about Simone, and he keeps me posted."
She's waiting for Simone to reach out to her.
Shanon shared with the news outlet that although she has Simone's personal number, she is waiting for her daughter to reach out first. "I do have a direct number, but I won't use it. I want her to reach out to me," she said. "She's 27 now. She's married. I would have liked to have been a part of that, but I just have to wait for her. You can't push anybody."
Shanon and Simone's biological dad both want to speak to their daughter.
Simone's biological dad, Kelvin Clemons, doesn't have contact with her either and had a similar past of addiction. Shanon, however, is still in touch with him and says he shares her desire to reconnect with their daughter.
"We both want to see her. I talk to him all the time," she said. "He says, 'If you talk to Simone, give her my number. I'd love to talk to her.' But I can't even talk to her. I have to go through my dad."
