More than two years after reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley began serving their sentences after being convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion, their time in federal prison is coming to an end. On Tuesday, news broke that President Donald Trump has pardoned them both, and their daughter, Savannah, has shared what she’s doing to prepare for former Chrisley Knows Best couple to come home.
Trump announced the pardon on May 27.
According to People, Trump granted Todd and Julie full pardons, noting that he believed they’d been “given a pretty harsh treatment.”
“It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean,” Trump said when he called Savannah with the news. “I hope we can do it by tomorrow … I don’t know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good luck.”
Savannah shared a statement not long after.
In her statement, Savannah called the pardon an “answer to countless prayers.”
“This administration does not hand out favors. It examines the facts and stands up for what is right. I also want to thank Alice Marie Johnson for her unwavering support and our attorney, Alex Little, for being an essential part of this process,” she said.
“Today is a victory for our family, but the fight against wrongful convictions and injustice within our prison system is far from over,” Savannah continued. “I will continue to use my voice and platform to advocate for those who do not have one. Family is everything to me, and I will never stop fighting for what is right.”
She has been holding down the fort while her parents are gone.
Since Todd and Julie began serving their sentences in January 2023, Savannah has been raising her younger brother, Grayson, and her niece, Chloe, who was adopted by Todd and Julie in 2016. Savannah was just 25 when she took on the task of caring for them both, so it must be such a relief for the whole family to know that their parents will be home soon.
She shared her plans to pick Todd and Julie up in a video on Instagram.
Savannah reacted to the news in a video on Instagram, talking to the camera about the preparations she was making for her parents to come home while wearing a white “make America great again” hat.
“We are freaking out over here, I have shed so many tears,” Savannah said in the video. “The president called me personally as I walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both my parents.”
She added, “It still doesn’t feel real. I’m freaking out. So I’m gonna go prepare to pick up my parents.”
