The White House Has an Official TikTok & It’s Already Getting Dragged

It’s no coincidence that the White House created an official TikTok account hot on the heels of California Gov. Gavin Newsom receiving tons of social media accolades for his own social accounts. But, faster than you can say “release the Epstein files,” internet trolls came for the White House in the comment section of literally all of the videos posted to the account.

Would you expect anything less? Given the state of the country and the increasing blowback on not only Donald Trump, but of his administration in general, he has plenty of critics who are ready and willing to call him out at any given time. Obviously, the White House’s TikTok account is not safe from that, as plenty of users have poked fun at every single post.

The White House’s TikTok account already has trolls in the comments.

The first post on the White House’s TikTok was made on Aug. 19, 2025 and features clips of Trump in black and white, along with audio from one of his many speeches. While that post garnered millions of views pretty quickly, I’d be lying if I said some of them weren’t likely from those who are quick to judge Trump rather than support him.

One of the top comments under that first post says, “You’re the most corrupt president ever.”

Another one left literally no crumbs with, “Determined to make a better life for…? Not the immigrants. Not poor people. Not pregnant women. Not women in general. Not Palestinians. Not anyone who voices an opinion against you. Not younger generations. Not veterans. Not people on Medicaid or food stamps.”

Other comments are memes of Trump in various forms of embarrassment, from his face with a lion’s mane and the words “lying king” on it to an image of Trump urinating and that urine flying back at him. I’d say the internet has it covered when it comes to coming for Trump on the White House’s TikTok account. Even if some poor intern is the one who has to sift through all of those comments every day.

They don’t know it yet…

Most of the videos shared to the account are careless in nature. Some include standard TikTok sounds or songs as backdrops to edits of Trump and the work he has done in the White House during his second term.

But his faults, and now those of the account in general, have not gone unnoticed. Literally. You’d be hard-pressed to find a comment on the account that isn’t dragging the White House or the Trump Administration.

One of the posts is a video of a fake dating app where viewers can see “who the left swipes right on.” The images include Democratic politicians and alleged mugshots of convicted felons.

According to the video, the left swipes right on all of the above. But, as one user wrote in the comment section under that video, “This is an official government page. What are y’all posting rn?”

You can’t help but wonder if, like that girl in Mean Girls who saw Cady wear Army pants and flip flops and wanted to wear them too, the White House was envious of Newsom’s social media attention. His social media game has been on point, and the internet has taken notice.

The difference between his posts and what the White House shares on TikTok, however, is that Newsom seems to intermix more hard facts and political content rather than memes alone.

There is a time and place for memes, but whoever is running the White House’s TikTok clearly does not understand the balance.
