Timothée Chalamet’s Sister Pauline Addresses ‘Insane Wealth Disparity’ in the US — Her Brother Is Dating Kylie Jenner

Actress Pauline Chalamet, who is also Timothée Chalamet’s sister, recently took to social media to address the “tremendous number of domestic issues” affecting the United States. In the post, one of the issues Pauline highlighted was the “INSANE wealth disparity.” The reason this particular issue caught people’s attention is because Pauline’s brother Timothée is currently dating Kylie Jenner, who is, of course, very wealthy.

In a post to her Instagram Stories, Pauline shared her thoughts on a New York Times article.

Pauline, 33, shared an article written by Nicholas Kristof and noted that it’s “worth the read,” per The U.S. Sun. Sharing her thoughts on it, she wrote, “The United States faces a tremendous number of domestic issues. Our maternal mortality rate is embarrassing, our way of shopping and eating food completely out of season makes no sense, we’re spoiled in our desire to BLAST ACs and heat, our INSANE wealth disparity is sick, the list literally goes ON and ON.”

Though there are many issues in the US, she explained, “humanitarian aid” is not the reason these problems still exist. She wrote that “less than 1% of all our money goes to humanitarian aid,” making it “insignificant in fixing any of the larger problems that play in the United States.”

It’s not the first time Pauline has spoken up about the wealth gap.

On several occasions, Pauline has used social media to call billionaires out. At one point, she wrote about how “billionaires do not need to exist,” per The U.S. Sun. “Our system is so flawed that it allows billionaires to exist and accrue so much money and BARELY pay (and sometimes NOT PAY) ANY ANY ANY TAXES,” she previously wrote. “This should not be possible.” She added that “Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg SITTING IN FRONT OF cabinet is NOT DEMOCRATIC. NOT. DEMOCRATIC.”

The posts sparked a conversation because Pauline’s brother is dating Kylie Jenner, who was once believed to be a billionaire.

Obviously, Kylie was not mentioned directly in Pauline’s post — and some fans believe the criticism was not meant to be directed at her.

“Its possible she doesn’t like kylie, but her comment wouldn’t be evidence of that,” one fan wrote on Reddit. Other fans have pointed out that regardless of whether or not she actually likes Kylie, Pauline can’t control who her brother dates.

“She’s not really responsible for who her brother dates it’s not like she can break up with Kylie,” a second person said.

However, others called Pauline’s post “performative” and said she’s “a hypocrite.”

“I don’t think she is directing this at Kylie, but I also think she is a hypocrite,” a third person wrote.

Even if Pauline does like her brother’s girlfriend, some fans still think it’s fine for her to speak up about these issues, especially because she has the platform to do so.

“I think focusing on interpersonal drama really is not the point of this ig story,” another fan commented. “We need all the people with platforms speaking up about these issues.”

Similarly, another person pointed out that “not everything is about the Kardashians.” “Her digs have nothing to do with Kylie,” the commenter wrote. “The Kardashians are a distraction from the bigger issues she is talking about.”

Previous reports suggested that Kylie was a billionaire.

In 2019, Forbes reported that Kylie Jenner had become the world’s youngest “self-made” billionaire. From then on, some news outlets continued to refer to Kylie as a billionaire, though Forbes later reported that she was not. Even if she’s not a billionaire, she’s still extremely rich. In 2024, Kylie’s net worth was reportedly $700 million, per Cosmopolitan.
