Fans of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes may get another chance to see the disgraced Good Morning America anchors back on the small screen. Rumor has it that the couple, who were fired after their affair was made public, have been trying to pitch a new daytime series to rival their old network's morning lineup.
Industry insiders told the Daily Mail the pair have been aggressively trying to get their new show off the ground.
The couple has apparently been making the rounds and trying to sell a new show based on their off-air chemistry to networks like CBS, NBC, and CNN.
According to sources, the show is being sold as an "up close and personal" chat show, something they believe would be a slam dunk with their on-air history.
They may be looking to stick it to their old bosses.
Amy and T.J. were let go from their posts on the Good Morning America offshoot GMA3 by ABC execs who claimed their relationship was a distraction.
It sounds like they may be trying to sell their new series as the ratings beater for Live With Kelly & Mark now that Mark Consuelos will be joining the ABC talk show after Ryan Seacrest bids farewell to co-host Kelly Ripa.
There may be a race to see who can nab the couple first.
Many in the industry have been whispering about what a huge mistake it was for ABC to take the high road in the scandal. "Think about it," one exec told the Daily Mail. "You have a show with two attractive hosts that does pretty well and then boom — the sexy romantic drama of the decade unfolds with your two stars."
"Who wouldn't want to watch them interact every day — see those sparks fly," the source continued.
T.J. and Amy have made their first public appearance.
They haven't exactly been hiding their relationship — there have been plenty of articles written about their recent travels, including holidays spent with one another's family and tropical getaways. But the funeral of PR legend Howard Bragman that they attended together last Sunday seems to be the first time they officially stepped out as a couple, leading many to believe that their relationship isn't going to end anytime soon.
Amy and T.J. both likely need an income to start preparing for support settlements.
While we don't yet know exactly who is going to have to pay what once T.J.'s divorce from Marilee Fiebig and Amy's divorce from Andrew Shue are both finalized, we can't imagine the pair are going to walk away without having to shell out some big bucks.
A new show could just be the thing they need to pad their bank accounts before they need to pay up, giving them extra motivation to pitch a show that could be a hit.
