It's the end of an era for Kody Brown and the rest of the Sister Wives stars. According to Without a Crystal Ball's Katie Joy, TLC has started searching for a replacement for the controversial polygamist family, and it sounds like the network's latest prospect may have even more skeletons in the closet than the Browns.
Katie said she's spoken with a former member of the Apostolic United Brethren about TLC's plans.
The insider claims that TLC production companies have been poking around a known polygamist compound in Humansville, Missouri, in search of the perfect replacements for Kody and his family. "According to TLC's casting website, the network is actively seeking new polygamists to join the series Seeking Sister Wives," Katie's post began.
The network actually already had its sights set on a particular polygamist patriarch.
TLC thought its hunt was almost over, according to the insider, who revealed that conversations about launching a new series had already begun when the network discovered that their would-be star was hiding a dark and horrifying past. "Apparently, the source alleged that the production company approached a young polygamist with two new wives," Katie continued.
But once the network extended an offer, the man got cold feet.
He reportedly has a criminal past that he doesn't want brought to light for public consumption. "The alleged polygamist prospect is a convicted child molester and level-three registered sex offender with convictions in Utah and Missouri … apparently, the production company had not looked into his past before starting alleged show discussions," Katie reported.
Katie was able to independently verify the man's convictions.
What's more, he's not the only one at the Humansville ranch with a shady past. "The former AUB member insists the Missouri ranch is filled with sex offenders and child molesters," she wrote of the location where TLC was trying to find new talent for its reality show. "Now, production may be scoping out other families for the Seeking Sister Wives to then spin off to replace the Browns on Sister Wives."
If what Kate has reported is true, TLC could be opening up a huge can of worms.
The network isn't exactly having a lot of luck with its talent.
Between the scandal-plagued 19 Kids and Counting and Sister Wives shows, TLC has become a breeding ground for dark family secrets and explosive allegations. Not only did the network have to cancel two series that revolved around the Duggar family after Josh Duggar was convicted of molestation and receiving and possessing images of child sexual assault, but now the Sister Wives stars have found themselves facing a barrage of abuse claims. So TLC may want to wait a beat before jumping into another reality show based on family drama.
