Getting engaged is a pretty big deal, and chances are that by now, your guy or gal has gotten strong approval ratings from your friends and family. More importantly, though, they've really got to pass the pet test. Only when your dog approves is the love worthy of marriage, amiright?
Well, once you say yes, and your pets say yes, it's time to document your engagement or proposal. Of course your dog is going to want to be included, and your cat will probably reluctantly agree, as well.
Check out these 16 ways to seamlessly sneak 'em into those memorable pics.

Thing 1 and Thing 2
You're buds, they're buds, and the four of you together are just inseperable. If you've got matching dogs, you're pretty much required to get this mirror image shot in your engagement session. Too cute, right?!
At Attention
These two pups are thick as thieves, and they're taking on all guard dog duties as a team. They're half the story here, and we love this shot where the dogs claim the foreground.
Drop It! (Or Not)
It takes a lot of guts to trust your dog to balance your engagement ring on his nose without sneezing or getting distracted, but if you've got the guts, and he has the coordination, this shot is a perfect way to share the moment with your pet pal.
Don't Mean to Intrude
This little guy ended up right in between Mom and Dad, and while that might have been awkward for him, it's awesome for us — we get to enjoy this adorable photo.

Happiness Happens
This moment between a couple and their insanely happy pup is just way too precious not to capture and save forever and show to everyone you know — that level of adorableness is just plain contagious.
Curiosity and the Cat
As long as everyone can figure out that it's you getting engaged (and not the cat), this is a pretty perfect way to share your news. Just make sure someone's keeping a close eye on that ring while the actual photographing is taking place!
We Said Yes
When you've got a pup as cute as this one, there really is not reason not to let him tell the whole story himself. Who needs humans anyways?
Acrobatics
If you've got an acrobat on your hands, you might as well use her for an action shot, right? There's so much energy and joy in this photograph, and we love every piece of it.

Are We Siblings Yet?
The matching dogs, the matching expressions, that golden hour light … ugh. What's NOT to love about this engagement photo?
Like Mother Like Daughter
Our kids imitate us, and who's to say that our pets don't, too? All three family members taking the same pose is the perfect way to commemorate the occasion.
Puppy Love
What do you do when you have puppy love and a puppy? You photograph it, of course. Puppies love puppy love, after all. (Obviously — just look at his face!)
Home Is Where the Horse Is
There's a lot more pet to fit into to your engagement photos when we're talking about horses. But it can also make for a precious and peaceful moment! (This pic being a case in point.)

Starry Eyes
If there are two things we know about golden retrievers, it's this: They're always excited, and they're always willing to be photographed. The sparkle in their eyes is contagious … and it's almost as if your gorgeous diamond ring caught it, too.
The Kids Are Alright
What are dogs if not just giant, barking children? They love getting love, and if you can share that in your engagement photos, you're golden.
Hang Loose
People get to pose with their dogs, so why shouldn't you get to pose with your cat?! If you can convince him to sit still for a whole photo shoot, your engagement photos will only be enhanced by your third muskateer.
Pug Love
Pugs amuse us, because they always look a little sad, so they've got that "Does this mean you don't love me as much anymore?" expression down and ready to go. But no, pug, it doesn't mean that. How could they not love you?!
