Perhaps the best and worst part about modern forms of communication is that there's a tangible track record of pretty much everything you say, and it's just waiting to haunt your future. Usually, the error is harmless, like typing a grammatical flub in a text. Other times, the mistake can be a little more worthy of a freak-out.
Like when Megan Southland's friend's professor mistakenly emailed the entire class a link to a porn website.
"My friend's professor sent this to the whole calss at 1 a.m. … I'm dying," Southland, or @southlandmeg13, wrote in the now-deleted tweet, which is currently circulating on Imgur.
In the email, the professor meant to send a link on interracial marriage, but pasted a link to an adult website. Later, the professor caught the oops, but one could say it was too little, too late.
"I totally screwed up and apologize big-time," the professor wrote in the second email. "If any of you opened it before getting this email, please let me know. Yes, I am screaming. Huge mistake."
You could say that again.
Imgur commenters stated the obvious: How awkward would the next class be?
Some were more forgiving: "What? Grown-ups watch porn too? Weird."

Good point, but other, more realistic folks pointed out that this probably violates some policy somewhere, and feared for the professor's career. "That could be a career-ender, if one of the student wants it to be," one commenter wrote. Yikes.
In true camaraderie of the Internet, some people shared their own truly NSFW blunders.
My face might be stuck in a permanent cringe.
If this isn't a reminder to double-check your texts and emails, then I don't know what is.
As for the professor's fate, no one really knows, but we hope he's doing alright (and better at checking his emails before he hits send).
