Fancy Halloween Treats…With Tofu?

Photo from New York Magazine

Yesterday during the favorite chocolate candy discussion I professed my undying love for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Today I found a recipe for butter cups of an entirely different variety—Chocolate White-Sesame Buttercups.

These fancy treats are served at Kyotofu, a Japanese dessert bar in New York, and would be a perfect sophisticated treat to wow guests at your next adult Halloween party. They look easy enough and the best part: They're made with tofu. Does that mean they are healthy? I don't see why not. I'll take two!

Kyotofu's Chocolate White-Sesame Buttercups, as printed in New York Magazine

2 cups milk chocolate

1 stick butter, soft

1/4 cup white sesame seeds

1/4 cup silken tofu

(For Ganache)

1/4 cup dark chocolate

1/4 cup cream

White sesame seeds, as needed

Grind up with white sesame seeds with mortar and pestle until it becomes a paste. Melt milk chocolate over double boiler. Let cool. Cream butter. Add cooled, melted chocolate. Add ground sesame and tofu. Blend well. Pour into foil cups 3/4 of the way. Store in refrigerator to let set.

For granache topping, boil cream in saucepan. Add dark chocolate. Pour on top of foil cups and let set. Sprinkle with white sesame seeds.
