One woman on TikTok is going viral for all the right reasons. After sharing one of her favorite late-night snacks on the video sharing app, @golisdreams is being hailed the "anti-almond mom" in reference to the “almond mom” trend, in which women have been speaking out on social media about the pain and struggle of growing up with mothers who encouraged unhealthy eating habits for the sake of staying in shape and being thin.
The term originally started trending on social media when old video footage resurfaced online of Real Housewives star Yolanda Hadid recommending a small nutty snack to her very thin teenage daughter, Gigi Hadid, who is now a supermodel.
People are calling the late-night snack 'healing.'
With more than 1.4 million likes and more than 8,000 comments, @golisdreams' TikTok video has hit viral status. In the video, she calls the snack her “sweet guilty pleasure." She goes on to share that she buys fruit roll-ups in bulk from Amazon because she can get them in a pack of 18 or 36.
Then she shows viewers how she puts a scoop of mango ice cream on the gummy treat and rolls it up like a burrito. She says that mango ice cream is her favorite flavor, and she blissfully indulges.
One viewer commented, “The opposite of almond mom, so healing.”
TikTok users are going crazy over the snack.
“Of course you can use any flavor you want like vanilla, mango, chocolate, strawberry. But I love the combination of mango and strawberry which is in the fruit roll-ups, and I just love the crunch,” @golisdreams says in the clip.
TikTok users agreed in the comments section that they would all have to eat more than one.
“Ugh how do u just eat one. I have to eat at least 3,” shared one user.
“I gasped! Didn't expect the crunch factor! Wow! Thank you!” wrote another fan.
There's still some debate about the whole almond mom thing.
TikTok users argued in the comments section of the post about whether @golisdreams, who is an influencer who shares a lot of food recipe videos on her account, is an “almond mom” or not.
One user commented, “Late night snacklins with an almond mom.”
Along the same lines, someone else pointed out how calling it a “guilty pleasure” is problematic. “Why are boomers so obsessed with 'guilty pleasures' you are allowed to enjoy things with out feeling guilty,” the person noted.
Other TikTok users disagreed, though.
“At first I thought it’ll be an almond mom with dry eco fruit roll, but was quite satisfied of seeing an ice cream,” one TikToker commented.
“I love how she’s literally eating ice cream with a frozen fruit roll up & ppl are still calling her an 'almond mom' for saying “guilty pleasure,” another person wrote.
Whatever the opinions on the almond mom issue, we're totally here for tasty treats every once in a while, and this lady seems to have the right idea with her sweet, creamy, and crunchy snack idea. It must be so satisfying.
