We’ve heard some truly crazy mother-in-law stories, but this one is a whopper. All one Canadian TikTok user, who goes by Jillian, wanted was to enjoy her beautiful destination wedding in Mexico. Instead, a day after her “perfect" ceremony, her mother-in-law staged an intervention because she was angry her son was giving her more attention — and that was the highlight of her marriage.
Jillian told the whole story in a video shared on her TikTok page.
Jillian started her story by playing a game with the viewers. In the video shared on August 12, she holds up her five fingers and said “Put a finger down if your MIL held an intervention for her son because she said it was unfair how much attention he was giving to you and that he should be giving it to her instead.”
Then her MIL asked her son to choose between her and his new wife.
She slapped Jillian across the face and called her a “little b—h” and told her she hates her.
“So he took off his wedding ring and dumped you literally the day after your wedding,” she continued.
Jillian had to fly home from Mexico during the global health crisis.
While everyone else was quarantining, her husband’s family “banned him from seeing you or coming to your guys' apartment where you lived at all.”
And then he kicked Jillian out of their apartment “so he could have secret sleepovers with his sister, in the same bed, which you thought was really weird,” she added.
Her husband told her he wanted a divorce but they'd have to stay married because he wanted to move to South Africa for three years to be in a circus.
Yes, that’s really what he said to her.
He spammed Jillian’s Instagram with a ton of fake accounts to “catfish and harass” her before showing up at her gym with a pet fish “and told everyone that I was psycho and a stalker.”
In the video Jillian put her finger down — and it’s not clear if she’s won or lost this game.
“Think it’s just me,” she said.
Obviously, the comment section has some FEELINGS about this.
“At no point during this did I know where this story was going,” one person wrote.
“I would like to know how many red flags there were before the wedding,” someone else wrote. "How does this all happen the day after the wedding?”
“Yes I need more information this is CRAZY,” another person commented.
How? Why? And again — how did all of this happen? Is this the worst wedding story that’s ever been told?
I think one person shares my concerns exactly: “Did you marry a stranger?”
I guess we’ll never know what was going on with her husband, but it seems like Jillian is able to laugh about it now — or make some true internet gold out a bad situation.
