The ‘world’s first’ mirror nail polish has sparked a massive conspiracy theory

Gather around, kids. There's a nail polish mystery that needs solving.

Back in April, Ciate London announced it would release the "world's first" mirror-chrome nail polish.

A post shared by Ciaté London (@ciatelondon) on

It was immediately plastered across every beauty site (including this one), and the internet went crazy for it.

According to the brand's Instagram, a "limited stock" of the Liquid Mirror Chrome Polish was released on July 14.

And it apparently sold out the same day. The brand promised that a restock would come "very soon."

The brand's caption also claims that a "record number" of people are currently on the waiting list for the polish.

But here's where things get fishy, as pointed out by YouTuber Simply Nailogical.

It's been exactly one whole month, and not a single person has posted photos or reviews of the Liquid Mirror Chrome Polish.

That's more than enough to time to allow for shipping, too.

Also, literally not a single popular nail vlogger or influencer received the polish from the brand's PR, either. Very strange.

The only photos of it in existence are the ones provided by the brand.

Now, many are questioning if the product went up for sale at all.

Hordes of commenters on Ciate's Instagram page claim they signed up for notifications about the polish's release but received none.

Ciate allegedly has yet to respond to any social media comments or customer service emails.

So basically, people have valid reason to believe that this nail polish is actually one big publicity hoax.

And it only gets worse from there! Now nail polish connoisseurs are sharing polishes from other brands that are essentially the same.

So it turns out that Ciate's mirror polish was never the "world's first" to begin with.

In fact, drugstore brands have been releasing "mirrored" polishes since the early 2000s, if not earlier. Ouch.

Revelist has reached out to Ciate for comment. This post will be updated if and when we receive a response.

Where did this polish go? Did it ever exist in the first place? Is all of this even worth it?
