Will there ever be a YouTuber beauty product launch that doesn't have drama? Probably not, but it's refreshing when the influencer handles the situation with class and professionalism. That's what Tati Westbrook did after catching wind that her recent Tati Beauty release, the Blendiful, was ripping after being washed. She's been refunding customers and made a video detailing the problems.Ā
Check it out.
When Tati Westbrook announced the launch of her makeup sponge, Blendiful, fans were understandably excited.
The seemingly innovative beauty sponge was unlike anything else that beauty lovers were seeing on the market. The velvety makeup applicator promised to be perfect for foundation, concealer, highlighter, and even eye shadow application. However, the exciting launch was quickly dampened by drama when fans expressed frustration with Tati for not creating a video showing off how to use it, and alleging that the Blendifuls they had purchased were already ripping.
Purchasers of the tool took to Twitter with photos of ripped sponges.
"My blendiful started to come open after my first time washing it," someone said tweeting at Westbrook. "I threw it in a lingerie bag and washed it with my regular wash. I am going to sew it back up but Iām worried that it will keep tearing. Do you have recommendations on how to safely wash?"
However, it seemed that those who reached out were helped.
"Update: Tati reached out and was SO quick to fix this situation," someone updated. "Nothing but love for her, her wonderful products and her amazing business ethics.Ā @GlamLifeGuru." The quick response of the Tati Beauty team seemed to lay to rest the potential drama that could come. Because as we all know, a bad beauty release can make or break an influencer.
And now Westbrook has made a whole video dedicated to the problematic launch.
She addressed the tearing and issues that came with washing the sponge. She also assured fans that all faulty products would be replaced at no cost. She also addressed those who she believed created drama around the launch. She requested that they contact her company and be honest about their issues. She continued to elaborate that many people are attempting to sabotage her brand.
And while the video was satisfactory to some, it wasn't for all.
"Since Iām on the thumbnail… I watched the video and to me it seems a little condescending," someone said critiquing Westbrook's delivery. "You basically listed all the things someone could do wrong as reasons theyāre having issues as if thereās NO POSSIBILITY at all that the product could have an issue and everyoneās a hater."
