Wife Gifts Husband A ‘Nobody Cares’ Cake After His Big Accomplishment

A couple’s shared sense of humor can help bind them together when the realities of life start to get heavy. It’s important that you and your partner can laugh together, even if no one else gets the joke and the two of you are laughing alone.

One couple understands this. But when the internet got hold of a practical joke this wife played on her husband, they didn’t find it so amusing.

The Redditor's wife got him a cake to celebrate an accomplishment.

On December 5, a Reddit user shared an image of the cake his wife got him. He wrote, “My wife got me a cake for what I thought was a big accomplishment,” People reports. The cake was decorated with white frosting, sprinkles, and turquoise letters that read, “Nobody Cares!”

Later, in the comments, the original poster shared with the subreddit that the cake was meant to celebrate the fact that he had completed building a website.

The cake inscription was actually a call-back.

The OP owns a printing company and has little to no experience as a web developer. It took him nearly three years to complete the website, Today.com reported.

“Over the years while I was building it, every time I completed any small thing like a button or something like that, I would show one of my employees,” he explained. “Eventually, I think they just got tired of hearing about me, showing them these small, tiny tasks that I had accomplished.”

During one of the updates, one of his employees sarcastically joked, “Nobody cares.”

He thought the cake from his wife was absolutely perfect.

“I told my wife that story and we both found it hilarious,” OP says. “That kind of just became the mantra of me building this website over the past three years.” When he opened the cake from Oregon bakery Hungry Hero, he was tickled. “When I opened it in the bakery, I laughed out loud immediately, because it was absolutely perfect,” he notes.

Most people agreed that this was hilarious.

Most Reddit users got the joke.

“Every relationship needs a good roast to flirt ratio,” one Redditor wrote.

Others thought of a few other occasions where they could use a cake like this.

“The cake i never knew i needed for gender reveal parties,” another user wrote.

Others thought it was insensitive.

Then there were those who didn’t find it so funny.

“I appreciate the humour, but it would break me,” another Redditor wrote. “If it was a big accomplishment for you then at least one person cares and should celebrate-you,” another commented.

“[Expletive] me, that's harsh,” another user wrote. “I mean saying it would be b—-y, but going to the trouble of getting a cake made, shows a level of spite I can't relate to.”

Thankfully, the recipient of the cake loved it and got the joke. That’s all that matters.
