Who doesn’t love a good prank? Well, a few people come to mind (aka every celebrity who ever had the misfortune of being on MTV’s Punk’d back in the day). Now that list included mom Ashlee, who goes by @dinkymisspretty on TikTok, who was pretty ticked after learning that her own mom pulled a prank at her gender reveal.
As the mom showed in a recent TikTok video, the gender reveal party was going as planned.
The video showed the mom dressed to the nines and poised with a gender reveal balloon in her hand. The plan: to learn if she was having a baby boy or baby girl.
“Team Boy or Team Girl?” the text overlay read.
Ashlee popped the balloon. The confetti was pink! — or so she thought.
“Clearly you can see I wanted a girl so bad and, in that moment, I felt like I won the lottery,” Ashlee wrote in the text overlay.
But then the truth came out.
“Then here comes my son making me realize it’s another boy,” the text read.
Yep — it was all a practical joke planned on her by her mom.
In fact, if you look closely, you can see a confetti cannon behind Ashlee’s balloon.
Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the confetti in Ashlee’s balloon was white and the pink confetti came from the cannon behind her.
“I was p—ed,” she wrote.
In the end, Ashlee came around to the idea of having another son but was still pretty upset with her own mother.
“Boy mom” she wrote over a photo of her giving her son a big old kiss.
People were annoyed on Ashlee’s behalf.
"I would’ve cried," one commenter wrote.
"That’s unfair they knew she wanted a girl … why play like that?" another commenter asked.
A third commenter put it like this: "I would have been mad I mean it's ok if it's a boy but why get my hopes up and it's not a girl."
And many people thought her mom had crossed a line.
"She would of had to leave," one person commented.
"Woulda showed my mom right where the exit was," another person agreed.
"That’s honestly really disrespectful to your feelings," someone else added, "so sorry."
Looks like it's time for a little payback.
