A teenager in the United Kingdom attended the Boardmasters music festival and claims he got more than he bargained for. Influencer Roly May shared his son Cooper’s story on TikTok along with a warning for parents. Cooper allegedly got “spiked” with a needle that led to a trip to the hospital and a lot of anxiety for the father and son.
May, who posts on TikTok as @itsdaddymay, shared a screenshot of Cooper’s Instagram story about Boardmasters. “Got spiked w a needle, touched weirdly multiple times, threatened, and just had my time ruined in general,” Cooper claimed in the post.
“Posting this so u lot can remember I’m 17 and wanna enjoy my time aswell. Hopefully u guys can sort ureself out,” he added. Cooper did point out that most people were nice, and he thanked them for their kindness.
@itsdaddymay @Boardmasters Festival needs to sort itself out. Me and @themrsmay will be talking about this more tomorrow. Any parents or festival goers who have similar stories of the carnage that went on drop us a DM. In a follow-up video, May showed himself and Cooper leaving the hospital after several hours had passed. The teenager underwent a series of blood tests, all of which came back clear following the alleged incident. May confirmed that his son received his first “Hep B vaccination” and that he will be taking “precautionary” measures to prevent HIV. Thankfully, May said the chances of Cooper contracting HIV are “highly unlikely.”
The father of four then condemned the music festival, expressing his disappointment. “Boardmasters have kind of let us down as parents with their duty of care,” he said.
Boardmasters denied May’s claims to Metro UK and said there have been “no confirmed cases of spiking” in the past two years, but that a “small number of people” did seek onsite medical care.
May advised anyone with more information or who’d like to discuss the musical festival to contact him.
Many people shared Boardmasters stories and allegations in the comments. “This is like the 4th video I’ve seen about people getting spiked by needle at boardmasters this year it’s insane,” someone wrote.
“My sister said a sexual assault tent was put up,” another person alleged. “I find that absolutely harrowing.”
“I’ve been spiked twice it’s horrible. club did nothing about it and banned me even though i was the victim,” a TikToker commented.
May has no plans of backing down and hopes his videos will bring more oversight at festivals to keep people safe.
