A Christian humanitarian aid organization in Haiti reported a nurse and her daughter have been kidnapped. El Roi Haiti Director Sandro Dorsainvil's wife, Alix Dorsainvil, and her daughter were reportedly abducted on July 27 while serving in their community mission near Port au Prince.
In a statement on its website, El Roi Haiti said Dorsainvil was an essential part of its mission and considered the people of Haiti to be her family and friends. As the days pass, concerns mount for the mother and child's safety.

Dorsainvil was doing what she always did, helping others.
El Roi Haiti described Dorsainvil as "deeply compassionate" and loving.
"Alix has worked tirelessly as our school and community nurse to bring relief to those who are suffering as she loves and serves the people of Haiti in the name of Jesus," a news release shared.
El Roi Haiti is committed to the family's privacy.
The organization asked that no one reach out to the family for comment. El Roi Haiti assured everyone it would continue to update the community with any new information. It also warned against sharing possible misinformation.
"Please refrain from speculating on social media about this situation in order to protect Alix and her child during this time," El Roi Haiti pleaded in its release.
The US government is involved in the case.
he US Department of State-Bureau of Consular Affairs released a Haiti travel advisory on July 27 in conjunction with Dorsainvil's abduction. The release urged Americans in the country to depart because the risk of kidnapping and harm is significant in Haiti.
"Kidnapping is widespread, and victims regularly include US citizens. Kidnappers may use sophisticated planning or take advantage of unplanned opportunities, and even convoys have been attacked," the release reads. "Kidnapping cases often involve ransom negotiations and US citizen victims have been physically harmed during kidnappings. Victim's families have paid thousands of dollars to rescue their family members."
It further explained that US personnel are only allowed near the embassy and cannot travel to the abduction scene in Port au Prince.

The US is committed to finding Dorsainvil and her daughter.
A representative from the State Department told People it is working hard to locate the missing mother and child.
"The US Department of State and our embassies and consulates abroad have no higher priority than the safety and security of US citizens overseas," the representative said.
Dorsainvil is originally from New Hampshire.
Dorsainvil moved to Haiti from New Hampshire to further a mission of service, per People. She served as a school and community nurse in a makeshift clinic and was reportedly loved by many.
"We continue to trust in Jesus Christ who is faithful, even in these very difficult circumstances. We are asking people to pray and cry out to Him, that He would hold our friends safely in His hands and place a hedge of protection around them as He makes their path straight back to us and to freedom," El Roi Haiti concluded in its release.
