12-Year-Old Escapes 2 Adult Sisters Who Took Her In & Allegedly Physically Abused Her for Months

A young girl in Texas is finally receiving help after months of horrific abuse. The girl found herself living with a relative who was allegedly sexually abusing her, and when she turned to someone she thought would help, she was only abused further. Sisters Brenda and Tania Garcia brought the girl into their home and reportedly orchestrated all kinds of abuse. Thankfully, she was able to get herself out of their home and to safety.

Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a 12-year-old on September 28, 2025, posting a statement about it on social media. According to deputies, the girl was being physically and sexually abused. “The child was taken to a local hospital, where medical staff confirmed injuries consistent with abuse and malnutrition,” the statement read. The sheriff’s office assured that the girl was safe and “receiving medical care and support services.”

In the statement, 38-year-old Brenda Garcia and 37-year-old Tania Garcia were listed as suspects.

The two women allegedly began abusing the girl, whose identity is being protected, in March, according to a report from KTRK. Investigators from the sheriff’s office said the girl was hit with sticks, cords, and belts. She also was choked, cut with scissors, and tied up.

Court documents state that the girl told detectives Brenda choked her until she couldn’t breathe and wrapped a belt around her neck. The woman reportedly told the girl to die, and she allegedly took nude photos of the girl, per KTRK.

Before living with the sisters, the girl was living with her uncle in Houston. Her mother resides in another country. While living with him, her uncle began sexually abusing the girl. She turned to Brenda Garcia, whose daughter knows the uncle.

While with the sisters, the girl escaped her restraints, leading to the alleged abuse being discovered. She had an infected gash on her head at the time and injuries all over her body.

CPS was involved, according to deputies, but when the agency went looking for the 12-year-old girl, Brenda Garcia told them she went back to Honduras to be with her mother, KTRK reported. The woman was later interviewed by detectives and denied any wrongdoing.

“This case is deeply disturbing, but it also highlights the importance of community awareness and the courage it takes to speak up,” Sheriff Wesley Doolittle shared in his office’s statement. “Together, we can protect the most vulnerable among us and ensure that justice is served.”

Brenda and Tania Garcia were both arrested on October 3. They are facing charges including felony injury to a child, unlawful restraint, and invasive visual recording. KTRK reported that they are being held on a $200,000 bond.
