Road rage is a very real issue. There have been many stories about people getting extremely angry over the way someone is driving on the road. Maybe we’ve even seen it or felt it ourselves. Although many people may let their anger dissipate privately, some simply can’t let it go. That could lead to confrontation, and those confrontations can, unfortunately, turn deadly. It’s heartbreaking when that happens. Days after the new year, Georgia dad Matthew Traywick lost his life after what appears to be a road rage incident. Traywick was shot at his local Target, allegedly over a parking spot.
Savannah police responded to the shooting not long after 4 p.m. January 4, 2026, they shared in a news release. When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he ultimately died as a result of his injuries.
According to police, the suspect, 30-year-old Tyler Linn, remained at the scene. He was subsequently charged with murder and aggravated assault. Currently, it is unknown when he will appear in court.
Linn is a former Army specialist, WTOC reported. He served from August 2015 to October 2023, and was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield from 2021 until he left the Army in 2023. He never had any deployments.

In a Facebook post, Alderman Kurtis Purtree announced that the shooting happened in a Target parking lot. “The shooting occurred as a result of an argument over a parking spot,” he added, warning people to stay clear of the area.
“Today, our community was shaken by a tragic act of violence in a place where people should feel safe, a parking lot at the Target on Abercorn Street,” Savannah Mayor Van Johnson wrote in a Facebook post.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the victim. No disagreement over a parking space, or anything else should ever end in the loss of life,” the post continued. “This needless, unnecessary violence underscores the daily pain felt by families across our city and the urgency of our collective work to reduce gun violence and strengthen community safety.”
Traywick leaves behind a wife and three young children, WOTC reported. It is unknown if Linn and Traywick knew each other before the fatal shooting.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for Traywick’s wife, Micayla, and their children. The fundraiser revealed that he was the family’s sole provider. “Matt’s unexpected death has left Micayla with the overwhelming challenge of supporting her children through both emotional and financial hardship. In the midst of their grief, the family is now confronted with immediate expenses and the uncertainty of how to manage ongoing needs without Matt’s steady support.
“Micayla has always been a devoted mother and friend, and now she needs the support of her community more than ever,” the fundraiser continued.
The shooting is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Savannah PD CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020.
