Anyone on the receiving end of someone experiencing road rage can attest that these situations are terrifying. An honest mistake or perceived slight can quickly escalate to reckless driving, physical attacks, or worse. And recently, a North Carolina dad was shot to death in front of his three kids in a tragic road rage incident.
Terrell Eugene Giddens, 75, was arrested following the death of Jeffrey Michael Guida, 40. As terrible as Guida’s death is, it was made even worse by the fact that his young children witnessed it. Giddens now faces serious charges related to the incident.

Gidden was arrested and charged with murder and more after allegedly fatally shooting Guida.
Giddens, of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, was arrested following the road rage altercation, according to an October 12 Catawba County Sheriff’s Office news release. He was charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Although the victim’s identity was not immediately released, the sheriff’s office announced Guida as the person who was killed in an October 14 update.
On October 12, deputies responded to a call about a shooting.
On Saturday, October 12, Catawba County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report about a shooting shortly before 5 p.m., according to the news release. Deputies arrived at the intersection of Island Point Road and North View Harbour Drive in Catawba, North Carolina. There, they discovered Guida dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Eyewitnesses recounted the road rage incident and thankfully, the children were not harmed.
Eyewitnesses told deputies that both men stopped and exited their vehicles at the intersection.
“The shooter fired multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle during this incident,” witnesses reportedly told police. “The victim’s vehicle was occupied at that time by his three children, ages thirteen, eleven and two. Those victims were not injured.”

Later, deputies arrested Giddens at his house.
Thankfully, eyewitnesses shared descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle. This information led deputies to Gidden’s house, where they arrested him.
“The amount of violence that occurred, seemingly from two people who didn’t know each other, it shocked me personally,” Maj. Aaron Turk with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office told WSOC-TV.
He added, “The children could have been injured or killed as well. Thankfully, that did not happen.”
Giddens is being held without bond.
As of writing, Giddens is held without bond. He appeared in Catawba County District Court on October 14, where he said his family would hire an attorney for him, WSOC-TV reported. Police will not release the identities of Guida’s children because they are minors.
