A mom was horrified when she returned home one day and couldn’t find her 11-month-old baby. She later found out that her husband allegedly sold their baby on Facebook to two people who are likely involved in a human trafficking network.
The 36-year-old dad allegedly wanted to pay off some of his debt that he had due to a gambling problem, reported the Daily Mail.

The dad eventually admitted to selling his child.
According to the Daily Mail, the dad eventually admitted to selling his baby after his wife questioned him about where their baby was. The police learned of the criminal act when the man’s wife took him to the Tangerang City Police Department in West Jakarta, Indonesia, to report the crime. The dad allegedly sold the baby on Facebook for the equivalent of $958.
He has been arrested.
The dad, who is only identified as RA, was arrested after allegedly selling his baby online. The people who bought the baby from RA, identified as HK and MO, were arrested as well. HK and MO may be part of a larger human trafficking network, reported the Daily Mail.

The dad also admitted to spending the money he got from selling his baby.
Though the dad reportedly told investigators that he sold his baby to help pay off his gambling debt, he has already spent the money he got from selling his child. Ai Maryati, chief of The Indonesian Child Protection Commission, condemned the dad’s horrific actions, calling what the dad did a violation of “basic human rights.”
Police discovered a baby trafficking ring in the area just weeks before.
According to Metro, Ai Maryati said “there is no excuse to be treating children this way and violation of their rights has to be punished severely.” Unfortunately, although what the dad did is horrifying, it is not an isolated incident. Police discovered a human trafficking ring near Jakarta just weeks before RA sold his baby online.
At the time, police arrested eight people for their alleged involvement in a baby trafficking ring, noted to Police Chief Arya Perdan. The traffickers were allegedly selling babies on Facebook for the equivalent of $600 to $958.
The babies were taken to Bali, Indonesia, and sold for nearly $3,000.
Traffickers took the babies to Bali and sold them for up to $2,872. In the case involving the dad who sold his baby online to pay off his debt, police found the baby at a rented home and arrested the two people who purchased the baby, Metro reported.
Ai Maryati couldn’t believe that the dad allegedly engaged in child trafficking and put his child in danger because of “his financial situation,” reported the Daily Mail.
