Giant Fish Viciously Attacks Mermaid Performer in Front of a Crowd of Children at Aquarium

A group of parents who took their children to visit an aquarium had some explaining to do afterward. They thought they were in for an entertaining water show but saw something they were not expecting. Mother Nature pulled weight, and the entertainment factor went out the window.

A mermaid performer was attacked by one of the creatures she shared a tank with, and It had the children gasping not from delight but fright.

A giant fish placed a mermaid performer’s whole head in its mouth and clamped down, The Daily Caller reported. A video captured by one of the audience members showed the shocking moment at Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park in China. The “mermaid” was 22-year-old Masha from Russia, who received wounds to her head, neck, and eye.

In the video, the mermaid swims around weightlessly, unaware of the fish swimming up behind her head. Suddenly, it opens its mouth and places the mermaid’s head in between its jaws.

Thankfully, the assault lasted only a second. The mermaid lost her goggles, but she was able to free herself from the fish’s jaws and swim to safety.

The mermaid was compensated the equivalent of $97 for “moral damages.” Her employers banned her from speaking about the incident, according to the Daily Mail, but the video remains. Allegedly, Masha was forced back into the aquarium after the incident. According to the New York Post, she was still in extreme pain from her neck injury. 

The freshwater aquarium contains a variety of species that naturally inhabit the Mekong and Yangtze Rivers. It also houses rare amphibians. At the time of publication, it was not clear what type of fish attacked the mermaid performer.
