A Florida couple with a history of domestic violence reportedly died hours before a court hearing. Police say James Christopher Lindsey, 42, stabbed his estranged partner, 40-year-old Kristin Stevens, 70 times after breaking into her home. Hours later, the suspected killer died in a single-car crash. Lindsey and Stevens reportedly shared a 16-year-old son.
Per a news release from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal stabbing occurred about 1 a.m. December 6, 2024, at Stevens’ home in the 2600 block of Hibbard Trail in Chuluota. A second individual suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and left the house to call for help. The couple’s teenage son was not injured during the violent attack.

Lindsey allegedly killed Stevens after she had a date with another man.
Stevens and a man she met on a dating app went on a date before her death, according to WKMG. The man repeatedly told police he tried to stop the attack as Lindsey stabbed her dozens of times. Her date claimed he also received stab wounds during the altercation and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.
A 911 caller reportedly told the dispatcher the man “went to protect the wife, but he got stabbed by the assailant, the ex-husband,” per WKMG. “Pray for the wife,” the caller added.
Lindsey allegedly took off after the attack.
Sheriff Dennis Lemma said Lindsey left the home driving 100 MPH after the attack, WKMG reported. He died in a rollover crash along Fort Christmas Road a short time later.
“There’s a pretty significant bend where that is,” Lemma said. “It’s likely he was fleeing in excess of 100 mph and was not anticipating that bend, took the vehicle off the road and was ejected from the vehicle. He was located at that scene.”
Lemma said the couple had been in an on-and-off relationship for 18 years.
Friends created a GoFundMe page to support the couple's son.
Kori Alvarez Resto created the fundraiser to help bring awareness to domestic violence and to care for the couple’s orphaned son. The account has brought in nearly $13,000 of a $25,000 goal thus far.
“Kristin was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who deserved a future filled with peace, joy, and love. She truly believed she was here to shed light and love on everyone and she did so effortlessly,” Resto wrote on the page. “She was present in every moment and her death has left a gaping hole in the lives of everyone who knew her. But beyond the pain, we must turn this tragedy into something meaningful.”
Resto wants to ensure people remember Stevens.
Resto doesn’t want her friend’s death to be in vain.
She wrote on the page, “No one should ever have to fear for their life in an abusive relationship. And no child should have to lose their mother in such a senseless and violent way. We hope to make a change to help prevent future tragedies, and give her son a chance to heal and succeed.
“Please consider donating and sharing this page,” she continued. “Every contribution counts, and together, we can make a difference in the fight against domestic violence. Thank you for your love and support during this devastating time.”
