7-Year-Old Girl Tearfully Tells Father ‘I Don’t Want To Go to Heaven Today’ in Chilling 911 Call

Ohio police have released the 911 audio of a chilling phone call between a father who allegedly abducted his 7-year-old daughter in November. The father, who did not have custody of the girl, threatened to kill himself and his daughter, who can be heard begging repeatedly for her life.

During a standoff with police, the father was killed after shots were fired. The girl wasn’t physically harmed during the incident, but there is no way to say how the experience will affect her in the future.

The incident began with an abduction.

On November 11, 2024, 43-year-old Charles Alexander reportedly tried to pick up his daughter Oaklynn from school on her birthday, according to a report from WOIO. Alexander didn’t have custody of his daughter, so her grandmother was called to the school to pick her up. Shortly afterward, Alexander showed up at the grandmother’s house and kidnapped the girl.

An Amber Alert was issued after the family called 911, the news outlet reported. Sometime after kidnapping his daughter, Alexander hit someone with the pickup truck he was driving, leading him to abandon the car and get a U-Haul, which was listed in the alert.

Police tried to stop Alexander multiple times before finally catching him.

Around 8 p.m., the Brunswick police received a tip that Alexander was in a parking lot. They found him at that site, which caused him to leave. The Brunswick police, as well as several other agencies began to pursue him, causing a low-speed police chase, according to WOIO.

Acting quickly, police used a device that deflated the tires of the U-Haul, forcing Alexander to pull into a nearby parking lot. This led to communication beginning between the father, who was armed, and police.

Medina County authorities released the audio, shared by People, in which Alexander can be heard telling the girl that she would be “going to heaven.”

“I will shoot us both, stand back!” he threatens in the audio, while his daughter can be heard begging, “please don’t” in the background.

“I wanna talk to her mother,” he says in the call, later addressing the woman directly, saying, “If you’re listening, Ashley, you should’ve called.”

Later, the girl asks, “How do you know we’re going to heaven?” Her father calmly responds, “We’ll both go.”

“I am going to heaven?” she asks, and when she realizes what that means, she yells, “No!”

The girl is literally begging for her life.

“I don’t want to go to heaven today,” she says, the panic rising in her voice as she begins to choke up.

Alexander responds, saying flatly, “I didn’t want it to happen either, I just wanted to talk to your mother.”

A 911 dispatcher then stepped in, attempting to reason with Alexander and talk him out of hurting his daughter. “I know you didn’t want to hurt [your daughter] and you didn’t want it to be like this. Let’s not do anything we can’t undo,” the dispatcher says, per People.

While the dispatcher is trying to talk the man down, the girl can be heard in the background tearfully proclaiming, “I don’t want to go to heaven today!”

She then repeatedly says, “I’m not going to die.”

Meanwhile, the dispatcher is still trying to get through to Alexander, telling him, “Let’s not do anything that is going to make it even more unfair to her, ‘cause you love her, I know you do.”

The girl was physically unharmed.

According a press release from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, “multiple gun shots were fired” by police. Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter was rescued from the scene and is now in the care of her family. Although she was not physically injured, she was undoubtedly emotionally harmed by the experience.

A family friend has put together a GoFundMe account for the girl and her mother. According to the fundraiser, the money will be used “during her mother’s time off from work, mental health expenses and any additional costs for her future.” It’s raised nearly $10,000 thus far.
