What was likely to be a fun night out at her high school’s homecoming party turned into tragedy for a high school student in Louisiana. The 17-year-old girl and her 21-year-old boyfriend, were found shot dead on the side of the highway. They were presumably on their way to the dance.
Police are still investigating the shooting, but based on their initial investigation, it looks like the boyfriend shot her in an apparent murder-suicide. A community is now coming together to mourn the loss of such a young life.

Police don't have a lot of information yet.
Dashayla Ardoin, 17, of Mamou, Louisiana, was found dead in a shooting alongside 21-year-old Glenkeithan Robertson along a highway in Acadia Parish.
“From the investigation, this case is believed to be a murder / suicide,” the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department wrote in a statement on Facebook.
They were likely going to her school's homecoming event.
Sheriff KP Gibson spoke with People about the incident, telling the outlet that he believed Robertson was behind the killings, but they don’t have details about a possible motive.
The couple were on their way to Mamou, the police said in their statement. Ardoin was a student at Mamou High School, which was holding its homecoming that night. Gibson told People that based on the route they took, they were likely on their way to the school.

The school released a statement about the student's death.
On Sunday, October 14, Mamou High School posted an announcement about Ardoin’s death on its Facebook page, calling her “one of our own.”
“Dashayla will always be remembered for her courage and bravery, her kind heart, and her beautiful smile. She was so very loved and will be dearly missed,” the statement reads.
The investigation is ongoing.
Right now, police haven’t released many details about the alleged murder-suicide. The police did say that no one else was in the car with the pair.
There’s also not much information about their relationship, but in July, Robertson shared a picture of the two on his Instagram with the caption, “Me & You Against The World.”
