What we choose to put on our lips is personal. Some people like things wet and juicy, and others prefer a soft and smooth finish. With so many sizes and shades, picking one can sometimes take hard work. We may have to do a lot of experimenting to find one that satisfies all of our needs.
When you say words like those, you can only be talking about one thing, right? Isamaya Beauty thinks so. The brand, known for its edgy advertising and sexy snaps, just launched its Lips cosmetics capsule collection that includes a saucy red lipstick and sheer black balm that are sure to please, but it's the phallic packaging that has people all hot and bothered.
The brand has been teasing the release on social media.
Isamaya sure knows how to drum up some internet attention. Their grassroots social media campaign leading up to the Lips launch has created quite a stir. The brand posted a short video on Instagram on Monday that piqued some interest. With rockets blasting, mushrooms blooming, faces grunting, droplets of water falling, and text that reads, "Something BIG is coming," followers wanted to know, just how big?
"SCREAMING AND SHAKING," an Instagram user typed in anticipation.
"Ohh I am here for this ," someone else wrote.
" ," posted one follower who could only seem to use emojis.
Then there were the comments that just went kind of limp.
"Something like reusable packaging? "
Then the brand dropped a pic with a blurred image of a familiar shape.
Do you remember the first time your saw one? Isamaya wanted to take us back to that moment and shared some stunned faces that appeared to be staring at something they had never seen before.
Bringing the male form to the face isn't new to the beauty industry, but it doesn't mean that makeup enthusiasts weren't interested in what someone else's looked like. Lots of 'grammers were all in!
"Wishing I could get this in Australia ," someone wrote, fantasizing about a stick of their own.
"This is so camp," another follower wrote.
"Shut up and take my money; whatever it is ," another comment read.
Plenty of people found humor in the package.
Followers know what's behind that blurred image, and they love it!
"I think this is hilarious imagine being on an elevator and whipping this out and then after all the Karen's grab their pearls you apply a glorious shade of lipstick maybe I should write up a post on pen-is humor throughout history ," someone wrote.
Some followers staunchly defended the brand and its new endeavor, amid claims that it took it too far.
In reply to the horrified commenters, one person wrote: "The people seeing kids here; YALL are the weirdos because these models are clearly adults. To the ones that just don't like the sexual concept. Cry me a f—ing river babe. Love it. This is isn't a 'safe' brand. They clearly think 'outside the box', so why are you even here?"
Of course, there are always the people who just can't have any fun and want Isamaya to keep it in its pants.
Evidently, not everyone wants to carry around chrome penis-shaped lipstick. And that's fine. They don't have to.
"Missed the mark with this creative choice ," someone wrote.
"I'm an incredibly open & sex positive person & I'm struggling with this," another person explained. "I liked the packaging of the first release as I'm in the bdsm community. This … I can not get behind. This it's not the first time a makeup company has made lipstick in this shape, but this is clearly the most overt I just think it's tacky, it's almost $100, which I guess is in keeping with the brand. It's not for me, but I'm sure I have friends who will love it."
The tease came to a climax Thursday when Isamaya revealed the new Lips collection.
In the latest video, we see a gorgeous model applying a red shade on her lips, and as the video pans out, we get our first glimpse of the package in all its chrome glory. But why end there? If you really want followers to get their panties in a bunch, you have your model use an oversized phallus as a mirror. It's the chef's kiss.
People cannot wait to get their hands on the new Lips.
"Can't wait to pull this out in a restaurant to touch up ," someone wrote.
"Have never purchased a lip product faster in my life? oh my god," an Instagrammer agreed.
"BIGGEST and most major drop of the year ❣️," a follower praised.
But, why do moms have to come along and ruin all the fun?
"The black shade is gorgeous but i unfortunately wont be buying bc my mom would kill me for that packaging ," someone bemoaned.
You can get a pocket-sized penis to please your pout, too.
Lips lipsticks are available now on the Isamaya website. Cardinal Red Satin lipstick will come to you in a sleek chrome finish, and the Vanity Black Shimmer balm is presented in a gunmetal package. The products are vegan and cruelty-free and manufactured in Italy. Lips retail for $95 each.
