Man Confesses to Killing Woman During Home Invasion While 7-Year-Old Son Was Next to Her in Bed

Irah Sok adored her husband, Makara Sok, and their son, Greyson. When she wasn’t spending time with her beloved family, Sok had a successful photography business. She had her own studio and her business thrived. Then, on August 19, 2022, a home invasion turned murder took Sok away from those who loved her and shattered their dreams. Three and a half years later, Christopher Johnson, the leader of the home invasion ring responsible for Sok’s death, pleaded guilty. It won’t bring her back, but the family will get a bit of justice.

The US Attorney’s Office, Western District of Washington, announced that Johnson pleaded guilty to “racketeering and conspiracy to commit RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.”  In exchange for the plea, both prosecutors and the defense will recommend a 25-year prison term at his sentencing May 6, 2026. At just 24 years old, he’ll spend more time behind bars than he’s been alive.

Johnson admitted he took part in a series of violent crimes with his alleged partner and co-defendant, Kevin Thissel, and a team of others on at least seven occasions in the summer of 2022. The men targeted families and often broke into homes in the middle of the night, claiming to be law enforcement, the release from the attorney’s office noted. Johnson admitted to zip tying children as young as 9 and stealing anything they could of value. He admitted they shot and killed Sok as Greyson lay with her in bed.

We truly can’t imagine a more horrific crime, not just for the deceased, but also for her family, who will never forget.

Following Sok’s death, her loved ones created a GoFundMe account for her husband and son.

“This is a devastating and horrific incident, and we are completely shattered that our beautiful Irah is gone. We are grieving and deeply hurting with Mak, who now has to care for his son without his lifelong partner and love, and little Greyson, who has lost his mother and best friend,” the fundraiser reads.

Clients, family, and friends left kind words for the family.

“Irah, I’ll always cherish the beautiful pictures you took of my family. I don’t think anyone else would have given me such wonderful photos. You’re the best at what you did and you’ll be missed. Rest in peace,” someone wrote.

We’re sure her photos will help those who loved Sok to carry her in their hearts for years. As for Johnson and his villainous friends, may prison remind them every day of what they took from a loving husband and innocent child for no good reason.
