A father in Miami Dade County has been left stunned and confused over the death of his children. On Friday, February 2, at around 2 a.m., police received an emergency call from a passerby. The witness claimed that there was an unresponsive child in a vehicle near the on-ramp connecting the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 95.
Later, another person called to say that there was a second child in the car as well. The 911 dispatcher said the children were in cardiac arrest.

When police arrived, the twins' mother jumped off the highway and onto some railroad tracks.
When medical personnel arrived on the scene, they performed CPR on one the children, WSVN reported. When police arrived, they were able to locate the driver, who was the children’s mother. Shirlene Alcime, 42, attempted to flee the scene.
“The mom jumped off the highway onto the train tracks under right where we are,” a dispatcher said. Paramedics transported the two children to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, True Crime Daily reported. The twins did not have any outward signs of trauma.

'Her and I had no issues,' the twins' father said about their mother.
Their father, Milson Cadet, recalled his children as very loving. “Normally when I come in the door, they come and they hug me. I can’t, really, I can’t talk right now,” he said, filled with emotion.
He claimed there were no signs to indicate the children or their mother were in danger. He also explained that the children went to work with their mother on Thursday and never returned. He called her repeatedly but got no answer.
“Her and I had no issues. I don’t know what happened with the kids. I’m not sure how they died,” said the father. “That’s surprising for me to see because that’s not the kind of person she is.”
Alcime did have a bit of an issue with her landlord but it had been settled.
Cadet told The Miami Herald, Alcime is "not someone who has mental problems." She reportedly owns a business and works closely with the Haitian community, True Crime Daily reported.
The Miami Herald reported that Alcime’s landlord had sued her for unpaid rent. The landlord threatened to evict her before the two were able to reach an agreement.
'We just really hope we can figure out exactly what happened here,' a Miami-Dade County detective said.
Police believe Alcime jumped from the highway in an attempt to take her own life, NBC News reported. She was taken to Aventura Hospital where she remains in a coma. Now, investigators are left with more questions than answers. MDPD Detective Andre Martin, said a medical examiner would determine the children’s cause of death.
"Not just as a police officer, but as a father, any case, any incidents such as this one that results in the death of a child is very, very difficult. My prayers are with the family of these children. My prayers are with our investigators and officers having to deal with this in our community at large of Miami-Dade County," Martin said. "There should be no incident that results in the loss of a child, especially the ages of three and four years old. And we just really hope we can figure out exactly what happened here. And why something tragic, so tragic as this would happen."
