Mom Tries To Shame Teacher Over Homework Error & Most Didn’t See It Her Way

Being an involved parent means helping your kiddos with their homework when the time comes — after all, there’s no way that teachers can accomplish everything in the time they get with our kids during the school day.

But after one homework assignment came home with a typo on it, a mom took to TikTok to share the error, and it really doesn’t seem like she’s getting the response that she expected to when she posted this video. Yikes!

The error itself was pretty minor.

In the video that @riversideredhead on TikTok shared earlier this month, she wrote that she was showing “the homework our five year old came home with.”

It shows a small slip of paper with a few short words listed on it that reads, “Please can you help your child to be able to read these red (tricky) words. Its is their challenge for the weekend!”

Then she zoomed in on where it says “Its is,” so people would realize that it should read “it’s” or “it is” to make sense instead.

Commenters did not see this as a big deal at all.

Considering how small the mistake was, many people didn’t seem to see why she had to point it out at all — and by “many,” we mean most of the nearly 300 commenters seemed to feel that way.

“Are teachers not allowed to make a typo? It’s one extra letter,” one person wrote.

An actual teacher chimed in with her take, too, writing, “I am a teacher. It would make me feel so sad if I saw this on TikTok. Very mature. This is exactly what makes our job so frustrating sometimes.”

Many people pointed out what a thankless job teaching can be.

It’s a pretty widely accepted fact that teachers work long hours for less pay than they deserve, often pouring more of themselves (and their own personal funds) into their students than required to make sure that the kids have a good year — something that people were not shy about pointing out to the OP.

“This is so sad. I can guarantee that this teacher goes above and beyond everyday for your child (and 29 other children),” another teacher wrote. “Unfortunately this was probably typed up in a rush, late at night or early in the morning because our workload is crazy! God forbid a busy teacher makes a mistake.”

Let’s cut this teacher some slack — after all, teachers are human, too.
