We want our kids to grow into independent people. We encourage them to take the risk, to put themselves out there, to set a goal, and try to achieve it. These were all the things likely going through an Idaho teen’s parents’ minds when she placed an online ad offering her services for babysitting. Instead, the teen was allegedly terrorized by a man in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Travis Reisen, 45, is no stranger to sexual misconduct. The Mercer County man admitted to assaulting two women 20 years ago. Now he has been charged with first-degree manufacturing child sexual abuse material, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree counts of possession of child sexual abuse material endangering the welfare of a child, and tampering with evidence the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office told NJ.com.
The Twin Falls (Idaho) Police Department updated the community with a heartfelt Facebook post thanking New Jersey law enforcement officers for their help and cooperation.
Reisen allegedly contacted the 14-year-old girl inquiring about babysitting services and evolved the conversation to a sexually explicit one, NJ.com reported. Authorities were notified when the girl’s mother reported that the teen was being sexually exploited online after discovering he extorted a sexually explicit video and images from her, according to the prosecutor.
The Trenton man’s offender details listed on the Meghan’s Law registry reveal that Reisen attacked two girls, 19 and 21, and was sentenced to 10 years for his crime.
Authorities searched Reisen’s home in the latest case and seized evidence but did not divulge what it was they had taken into custody. According to the Trenton Daily Voice, Reisen himself was taken into custody and taken to Mercer County Correction Center.
