A North Carolina man allegedly uncovered his wife’s affair and then ended their lives in a bizarre murder-suicide. George Lesniak, 63, reportedly posted that he’d killed his wife, Cathleen Lesniak, 59, and planned to kill himself in the now-private ADAS Support group he managed on Facebook. Concerned members contacted the Fuquay-Varina Police Department, who went to Lesniak’s house. What they found was truly heartbreaking.
According to a news release, “The Fuquay-Varina Police Department confirms that there is no ongoing threat to the safety of the public related to this incident. However, due to the complex nature of the investigation, officers will remain on the scene for an extended period to conduct a thorough investigation. This investigation is still ongoing. This incident is deeply tragic, and we urge the community to keep the family in their thoughts during this challenging time.”

The NC Beat reported that Lesniak had alleged his wife was having an affair in the ADAS group, writing, “My wife admitted to cheating on me, so I killed her. I’m about to kill myself. Figure this group out for your selves.”
Lesniak’s Facebook profile notes the couple married in September 1990. His LinkedIn profile lists Lesniak as vice president of training for Autel Automotive Intelligence USA. He appeared to have worked for the company for more than five years.
Autel North America shared a statement about the couple’s deaths on Facebook: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at the Lesniak residence on January 18, 2025. We at Autel express our heartfelt condolences to the Lesniak family and friends.”

Community members shared mixed reactions to the story on the police department’s Facebook page.
One person wrote, “Is this post necessary? Every time something like this is not only posted, but left open for comment, I am overcome with embarrassment at how dehumanizing it is for the family that the police department share this. As someone who has experienced a tragic loss, I can only imagine the added horror and trauma had the town I lived in at the time shared the details of the worst day of my life as it was unfolding in front of me.”
Another person didn’t’ understand why Lesniak did what he did. “My prayers go out to their children. Asking for my own understanding, is this an ego thing? Cheating is definitely not ok, but killing your partner for cheating …. And then yourself,” the person wrote. “This happens way tooo much. I don’t understand the thought process. Devastating for their children, my heart and prayers.”
There were many calls for prayer, such as this person who commented, “This is heartbreaking. Myself and many others graduated with one of their sons and I cannot believe this. Praying for the family.”
