As the days pass, many are still wondering whether Carlee Russell will face criminal charges after seeming to fake her own kidnapping. Although police have yet to officially declare that the incident involving Russell was a hoax, earlier this week, the Hoover Police Department indicated that it has not been able to verify any of the details Russell provided regarding her July 13 disappearance and subsequent return home two days later.
In the wake of the most recent press conference held by Hoover police, many are wondering about the circumstances surrounding Russell's disappearance and whether she will eventually be charged for calling a false report to 911. Russell went missing after calling the emergency line to report she had seen a toddler walking alone along the interstate while she was driving the night of July 13. Now, tweets she sent out just minutes before making that call have surfaced, and they are only adding to speculation about her mental state.

Russell was fairly active on Twitter.
Carlee Russell's Twitter account has surfaced and shows that she was fairly active on the social media site. She'd been a member since 2011, when she was just a teenager, and has over 7,000 followers. She's tweeted more than 17,000 times, including everything from selfies to thoughts on life and her personal experiences.
In the hour before her alleged disappearance she tweeted three times.

The 25-year-old nursing student from Alabama went missing just after 9:30 p.m. CT on July 13. At 8:55 p.m., 8:56 p.m. and 9:19 p.m., she tweeted three seemingly completely disparate thoughts.
"today was a GREAT day God be looking out im telling you!!" reads the first tweet. "someone to tell you “i love you” and don’t got a reason ," the second, and "yeah i want a family now ," the third.
Many have suggested these tweets were at odds with what the police investigation has uncovered so far.
During the press conference Wednesday, police revealed a timeline of Russell's action just prior to the 911 call. She evidently left her job at a local spa after appearing to steal a robe and toilet paper from her job, then went to pick up food at a restaurant before going to Target where she bought snacks, leaving the store minutes before the 911 call was made.
Apparently in the midst of all that, she also was active on Twitter.
"Cash and the scheme was set In motion this very day," someone commented on one of her tweets.
"Your internet searches weren’t that great lol ," another person wrote, referring to Google searches uncovered by the Secret Service, including terms such as "How to take money from a register without being caught" and "Maximum age of an amber alert."
Other tweets indicate that she may have been going through some personal issues.
Tweets in the days prior to her disappearance may indicate that Russell was having some problems in her relationship with her boyfriend, Thomar Simmons, who initially posted on Instagram in support of her but has since wiped his account of that statement along with all other posts related to Russell.
"i always say one thing i WONT do is stay with someone who cheated on me like you went and had sex with someone else and think it’ll be sweet one day?? hellll no ," Russell tweeted on July 10. "one thing i hate is repeating myselfff ," a July 12 tweet reads.

Many believe Russell will face charges in the coming days.
Although the Hoover Police Department has not indicated that criminal charges against Russell are imminent, many believe she could be charged with falsifying a report. Police, however, say they have not been granted a second interview with her and that the investigation is ongoing. Many have brought up questions regarding Russell's mental state, which could have an impact on which charges, if any, she will face.
Eric Guster, an attorney from Birmingham, Alabama, told WVTM 13 that, "She says she was kidnaped, and a kidnapping didn't happen. (They say) our citizens are safe. There's not a kidnapper out there. So, they use every other synonym for lie except saying she lied," referring to the police.
Guster said possible charges could be related to theft, lying to authorities, and filing a false police report, and he expressed shocked she hasn't been arrested yet.
"If I was Carlee’s attorney, I would speak for her," he said, per the news outlet. "I would not allow her to speak to the police because anything she says can and will be used against her. I would speak for her. I would go to the mayor; I would go to the police chief and figure out if there's something we could do. That's what I would do.”
