Sometimes you really have to go to the bathroom. As you get older, it becomes harder and harder to deny that urge when it hits because it can have disastrous consequences, and that urge doesn’t care where you are. But there are times when it is completely inappropriate to relieve yourself! A school bus driver in Massachusetts is learning that the hard way. The driver has been fired after allegedly stopping the bus full of young elementary school students to pee. He didn’t even get off the bus — he relieved himself right there, with the kids still around. It’s truly a shocking choice to make.
What a way to start the week.
The incident took place on March 30, 2026, according to a news release from the Swansea Police Department. During the morning bus route, the 71-year-old school bus driver, who has not been identified, “urinated inside the bus while students were aboard.”
“The bus driver pulled over on the way to Hoyle Elementary School and told the passengers to move to the back of the bus. The driver then allegedly relieved himself while sitting in the driver’s seat,” the release shared.
After relieving himself, the driver finished the trip and dropped the kids off at school, police added in the release.
An investigation into the driver’s actions was launched after several students on the bus told their teachers about the “unusual behavior.” As the investigation continues, it is believed that none of the students actually witnessed what the driver did.
School officials have notified the parents of all 12 pre-K to second-grade students who were on the bus at the time.

“Upon learning of the incident, the Superintendent of Schools notified Amaral Transportation that this driver was fired from ever driving for Swansea Public Schools again,” the police release shared. Because of the incident, the district will be working closely with the bus company to “ensure something like this does not happen again.”
There will also be a review of the bus company’s hiring process to “ensure they align with the district’s primary goal of keeping all Swansea students safe,” the release added.
After the incident, the school district filed a report with the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families, which is both a state law and district policy. The police also were alerted, and detectives have been assigned to the case.
As of the afternoon of March 30, no charges against the school bus driver have been filed. “This is a matter we take extremely seriously. This type of behavior in the presence of children, especially young children, is unacceptable, and we will continue to look into the incident,” the release concluded.
Members of the community are shocked and horrified by the incident.
“It was crazy because if I have a kid, I wouldn’t want that to happen with my kid on the bus. It’s outrageous,” Swansea resident Thais Borges told WJAR. “I understand sometimes you want to use the bathroom, but you can’t do that around children. It’s unacceptable.”
Keyla Utizhungo told the outlet that the incident was “inappropriate,” adding that “obviously there’s kids that are not under supervision.”
“I’d be concerned,” another Swansea resident told WJAR. “That’s very inappropriate and awful to think that someone would do that.”
