Nearly two years after his wife, Mica Miller, allegedly died by suicide, South Carolina pastor John Paul Miller has been indicted on multiple charges. After his wife’s death, Miller came under scrutiny. Those close to the woman, whose cause of death was reportedly a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, believe that her husband likely had more to do with her death than is being reported. John Paul Miller was quick to tell people her death was suicide, even before an official cause of death was released. Now, the suspicions might have some validity, because he allegedly harassed her for at least a year before she died.
In a press release shared on December 18, 2025, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina announced that a federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment against John Paul Miller.
Beginning in November 2022, the 46-year-old “sent unwanted and harassing communications” to his estranged wife, Mica Miller, until her death on April 27, 2024, the release reads. The harassment includes posting a nude photo of his estranged wife online without consent, having tracking devices placed on her car, and contacting her 50 times in one day.
When federal investigators interviewed the disgraced pastor about the allegation, he lied. John Paul Miller said he didn’t damage her tires, but it was discovered that he had purchased a tire deflation device online. He also allegedly contacted people about her vehicle.
John Paul Miller faces five years in prison for cyberstalking and two years in prison for making false statements. Additionally, he faces a fine of up to $250,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned on January 12, 2026.
The couple was in the process of divorcing at the time of her death, ABC 30 reported.
Before her death, Mica Miller told police she “was afraid for her life,” WPDE reported. She said she believed someone was following her and informed police that a mechanic had found a tracking device installed on her car.
“This has to be at least looked into deeply. There’s got to be some accountability here,” her friend Kenn Young told WPDE days after her death. “Because yeah, a tragic life was lost, and it’s not just as simple as mental health issues.”
Those close to her began a petition after she allegedly took her life, calling for law enforcement to take reports of harassment more seriously. Thus far, more than 40,000 people have signed it.
The petition shares that Mica Miller “lost her life due to no one helping her from being harassed and excessively stalked among other things by her soon to be ex-husband she was desperately trying to get away from.
“She made report after report, no contact order was made and received no help, not even from law enforcement,” it adds.
