Teen With Perfect Attendance Missing for Weeks: ‘Someone Coached Her Through This’

The family of a 14-year-old girl who has been missing for two weeks in Georgia fears someone has taken her. Ashley Nevaeh Bell's family says the Gwinnett County teen is a model student with perfect attendance, but video evidence shows Ashley walking away from Parkview High School on May 24, and she hasn't been seen since.

Strangely, Ashley put her backpack and laptop under her 17-year-old sister's car in the school parking lot and tucked her debit card on the windshield before disappearing. According to Fox 5, she was at the school to take a final exam and usually rode home with her sister. But that Wednesday morning, she walked out of the camera's view, and no one knows where she went.

The behavior is out of character for the teen.

Ashley's father, Remon Bell, spoke with KAKE and said Ashley is a bit of a loner without many friends. He fears she might have been communicating with someone online who convinced her to run away.

"I just think somebody was coaching her, that's just how I feel. I think someone coached her through this because she doesn't walk anywhere," he said.

The father echoed his concerns to Fox 5. "We really think that she was just talking to someone on an app and became friends with them, and they lured her out. Because she never would do anything like this," he told the news outlet.

Investigators traced Ashely's cellphone.

Remon Bell told KAKE her phone pinged a few times in Morrow, Georgia, the following Sunday. The family thoroughly searched the area but had no luck locating the missing teen. Her phone went dead that same day, and she has been untraceable since. Her disappearance is a mystery.

According to her father, she didn't prepare to run away. "When she left, she had no money, no clothes, no nothing," he said, according to KAKE.

Ashely's story and a petition to help find her are live on bringhomeashley.com. Words on the site praise the missing teen.

"Ashley is a model student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA through her love of learning and dedication to her studies. Beyond her academic excellence, she loves anime and shares a special bond with her older sister," a message on the site reads.

The family also created a petition that would lead to more substantial consequences for adults who lead teens away from home.

"Enact a law that enables law enforcement to classify cases involving missing teenagers suspected of 'running away' with an adult as criminal cases of felony abduction," the petition reads.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's office issued a press release about the case on June 5.

The sheriff's office said the investigation into Ashley's disappearance is ongoing and that it is following up on all leads in the case. Officials described the teen and what she wore the day she went missing.

"Bell is a black female with curly black hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5'3" and weighs 145 lbs. She wore a white shirt, brown tights, and white and brown shoes," the release reads.
