After a week-long trial in Swansea Crown Court in Wales, a jury has convicted a 14-year-old girl of three counts of attempted murder. The unnamed girl reportedly admitted to intentionally wounding three people at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman on April 24, 2024. The teenager reportedly attacked them with one of her father’s fishing tools. Testimony from her trial gives insight into her bizarre motive.
According to Sky News, the teenager attacked Fiona Elias after the teacher reprimanded her earlier in the day. Per testimony, the girl looked at the teacher with “sinister eyes” and “appeared to be playing with something in the right-side pocket of her cargo trousers.”

During a break later in the day, surveillance footage shows the teenager attacking Elias on the playground while she spoke to Liz Hopkin. Hopkin tried to help and sustained serious injuries.
The teenager said, “I’m going to f—ing kill you,” while attacking Elias before moving on to hurt a student.
The teen, who is not being named because of her age, reportedly said after the attack, “I’m pretty sure this is going to be on the news, so more eyes will be looking at me, that’s one way to be a celebrity,” Sky News reported.
But it appears she may have had some remorse. She later asked police following the attack, “How am I going to face my family after what I’ve done?”
After the conviction, Elias said outside the court that teachers shouldn’t live in fear of an attack and that perpetrators must be held accountable.
“No one wants to see a teenager being found guilty of and punished for attempted murder However, the incident that took place on April 24 was totally unacceptable. Today’s guilty verdict is not just for me but for all teachers everywhere,” she added.
“No member of school staff should ever feel fearful for their own safety, merely for carrying out their duties.”

The teacher added that she hoped the trial and verdict deliver a clear message.
“I would not want any other individual to go through the nightmare I have endured for the last nine months. For any other individual who has been through such an experience, you will know that the nightmare and trauma experienced will not end today with the guilty verdict,” she said, per Sky News.
Elias also thanked Hopkin for her bravery and said she may not be alive today without her. “Liz, the words’ thank you’ are not enough,” she added.
A judge will sentence the teen on April 28, 2025.
