911 Dispatcher Picks Up Unexpected Call: A Toddler In Need of ‘Emergency Doughnuts’

The Moore Police Department in Moore, Oklahoma, recently received an unexpected 911 call from a toddler. Luckily, the toddler was not dealing with an actual emergency. Instead, during the “fun interaction” the dispatcher had with the toddler, he kept talking about “emergency doughnuts.”

The police department released audio from the unconventional 911 call, and now we can’t stop laughing.

‘Moore 911, what’s the address of your emergency?’

The dispatcher answered the toddler’s call like any other. The toddler was clearly confused. “What?” he responded. After saying lots of incomprehensible things, the toddler hung up before calling again.

During the second call, the toddler said, “911, emergency doughnuts.” The dispatcher told the toddler that they wanted doughnuts too. “Are you going to share your doughnuts?” they asked. The toddler continued to make comments about “emergency doughnuts,” and the dispatcher asked if they could speak to his mom.

Eventually, the dispatcher asked, “Can you tell me what kind of doughnuts you have? Do you have blueberry doughnuts?” The toddler didn’t answer the questions and continued to say “911 … emergency doughnuts.” Again, the dispatcher asked the toddler if he was going to share his doughnuts.

“No, I’m not,” he answered.

The toddler had used an old cellphone to call 911.

Per CNN Newsource, the phone the toddler used to call 911 could still be used to make emergency calls even though it had no other functional use. In an Instagram post, the police department warned parents that old cellphones can still be used in this way.

“Old cell phones may be unable to use high-speed data networks, take photos or play music, but they can still call 911 in an emergency,” the police department explained. “As long as an old cell phone is functional, it can be used in an emergency. Meanwhile enjoy donuts. 🍩.”

Later, some police officers delivered doughnuts to the toddler.

Though the toddler’s craving was not an emergency, the police department still responded. In a video shared by the police department, officers could be seen driving to the toddler’s home to deliver a box of doughnuts from Dunkin’. “We brought you some doughnuts,” an officer said to the family. “Yes!” the toddler cheered.

The officers showed him the doughnuts, and he giggled in excitement. “🚨🍩Emergency Donuts: The Sequel🚨🍩,” the police department captioned the post. “Bennett requested a donut emergency, and #MPD delivered! His smile and laughter said it all! Together we are #moorestrong.”
