A couple in St. Louis are grateful to be together after a fiery crash early Sunday morning that left one person dead. A Chevy Silverado was at a dead stop in the left lane of Interstate 70, allegedly without lights on, which trigged the three-vehicle accident. Malissa Travis Crews, 36, was traveling in a GMC Yukon behind her husband, Remy Stacks, 42, driving a Yukon Denali when he crashed into the stalled Silverado. Crews ultimately hit Stacks, and his vehicle burst into flames.
The intense flames eventually set all three vehicles ablaze. Crews got out of her vehicle and heroically saved Stacks' life. She may have been a widow today if not for her love and bravery.

Crews couldn't believe her eyes.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, Crews alleged she was driving behind Stacks and his brother around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when Stacks unexpectedly slammed on his brakes, KMOV reported. She could not come to a complete stop and hit her husband's vehicle.
Suddenly, all she could see was the fire.
Crews told KMOV that when she hit Stacks' car, tragedy struck. "Flames just flew, and I screamed his name because I was behind him watching everything," she said.
The police department's report stated all three vehicles caught fire after the collision. The incident was terrifying, but Crews knew she had to act fast.
Crews said the accident was virtually unavoidable.
The crash victim told KMOV that the area where the accident occurred is a blind spot, and until you get past the hill, it is hard to see the road ahead. "Once you get up that hill, you don't know what's there until you're there."
She told the news outlet that she remembered feeling the impact of the accident but knew, above all, that she needed to get to her husband. Crews said the vehicles were on fire and the grass around the highway was also ablaze.
After realizing she could leave her car, she wanted to get to Stacks.
Crews wanted to rescue her loved one and approached the crashed Denali and called out Stacks' name.
"I said come on baby you gotta get out of this truck, it's on fire and first thing he says 'I'm gone,'" Crews recalled to KMOV. "He thought he was dead."
Crews grabbed her husband "like a potato sack" and pulled him to safety.
The driver of the Silverado, identified only as John Doe, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police continues to investigate the accident.

Thankfully, Stacks and his brother are alive.
The video of the crash is disturbing, and it seems to be a miracle that anyone survived. Emergency personnel arrived quickly, and several passersby stopped to help.
Despite a long recovery ahead, the men made it out of the terrifying situation alive. Stacks will need hip surgery and has broken ribs, his wife explained.
As Crews told KMOV, "I'm just glad I'm not a widow after being married for a year and a half."
