Young Dad Nearly Dies in Motorcycle Crash On His Way to Baby’s Birth & He May Never Walk Again

A young father excited for the birth of his son headed to the hospital on March 27, 2025, but had a horrific accident along the way. Jaidan Aspinwall’s motorcycle collided with a car on Brampton Avenue in Statesboro, Georgia. Emergency crews rushed him to a hospital in Savannah with extremely serious injuries. His family has had to balance the joy of his new baby Aidan, being born, and the fear that he could lose his father. Jaidan’s mother, Michelle Aspinwall, who uses the name Michelle Aspen on social media, prayed for a miracle.

The terrified mother told WTOC an incredibly exciting day turned terrifying. “I hit my knees and just started praying, please, please pull through,” Aspen said.

Jaidan met his newborn son Aidan as he lay sedated in a hospital bed. Aspen said the accident and Jaidan’s road to recovery proved how strong their family is.

“It’s brought our family closer together, it has,” Aspen told the news outlet. “Because when you look at what matters which was Jaidan and then Aidan.”

Ashley Gangji described Jaidan’s injuries on a GoFundMe post. The new father has multiple broken bones, including his arms, legs, and neck, as well as spinal fractures. Gangji wrote that funds raised would help the family through this difficult time.

“This will help with all the unforeseen costs associated with a life changing event such as this, seeing as he won’t be able to work, needs surgeries to enable him to move his right side again, and will have months of rehabilitation ahead,” she shared on the page. “Jaidan will be thankful for any and everything he receives, and we as his family thank you as well, as we try to help him maintain some feeling of independence, when it has all been taken away.”

The GoFundMe has brought in $2,000 of a $6,500 goal thus far.

Aspen uses Facebook to update family and friends on Jaidan’s recovery. The proud grandmother has shared several photos of Jaidan with baby Aidan. Despite serious injuries, the new dad’s smile shows just how much he loves his son.

She posted an update on April 24. “I’m sorry for not updating, but we’ve been in a bit of limbo lately. We’ve decided our best bet is to try to get back home to Vanderbilt for further care,” it reads. “Memorial saved his life, and we will forever be thankful. Now, We need to get back to Tennessee for all of the ortho needs and surgeries. Yesterday made a month here in this hospital, and doctors and staff agree, we should be set to go home soon, with a LONG road ahead.”

Aspen added a thank you on Facebook to everyone for their help and love. “Anything people can help with is so appreciated. Like Jaidan just said, ‘Things really did change so fast.'”
