Passing on the Exodus story is at the heart of the Passover Seder, but as Nancy Mades tells Family Fun, "Kids get squirmy faster than you can say 'Let my people go.'"
Mades wanted to make Seder night more interactive for her children so she came up with some great kid-friendly ideas.
Here's one for making Kiddush Cups.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Small plastic wineglass
- Cotton swabs
- Small paintbrush
- White craft glue
- Craft gems (in an assortment of colors)
- Mod-podge craft glue
- Tissue paper (in an assortment of colors)
DIRECTIONS
For a "gem" decorated Kiddush cup:
- Use a small cotton swab to apply a small amount of glue to the back of each gem.
- Arrange and attach them around the outside of the wineglass and on the pedestal.
- Let the jewels dry.
For a "stained glass" Kiddush cup:
- Cut multicolored tissue paper into small pieces.
- Start at the outside midsection of the glass and glue on the pieces of the tissue paper, working down the stem toward the bottom of the glass.
- Completely cover the lower half of the glass with tissue paper.
- Use a paintbrush to cover the entire tissue-papered area with Mod-Podge.
- Let it dry.
